10th Grade Global Studies Mr. Benner & Mrs. Butler

Welcome students and parents to 10th grade Social Studies. This year we will explore the
second half of global studies (post 1750 AD). Current events will also be incorporated into
the curriculum.

A portion of the class will also be dedicated to being prepared for the Regents Examination
at the end of the year (actually two of them, one transition and one new), with a focus on
writing Thematic, DBQ and Enduring Issues essays.

Grading Policy:

Participation - 10% (includes engagement, teamwork & collaboration)

Assignments - 20% (writing & homework) Assessments - 70% (tests, projects & essays)

Expectations: You are expected to contribute in a positive way to the class and follow all school
rules. Teamwork and Collaboration will be a main component of coursework. No visibility of cell
phones will be in effect during class-time. Misbehavior will result in a student conference,
detention or write-up if not corrected.

Supplies: 3-ring binder (1-2 in), pens and some loose-leaf paper (10-15 Sheets).

Google Classroom: You will be required to use Google Classroom and Google Drive for this
course. You MUST use your @wantaghschools.org ID, not your personal one. More info will be
given out during the first week of class.

Homework: Homework will usually be given out a few times a week. Most assignments can be
completed over several days. Late assignments will receive a 10 point deduction per day late. All
assignments will be graded. All lessons/assignments will be posted on Google Classroom).

Binder: Students are expected to keep an organized binder. All pages are numbered in order to
help you keep your notebook neat.

Textbook: The textbook will be given out and should be kept at home.

Extra Help: Before-school everyday and after-school on Tuesdays.
