WORKSITE MANAGEMENT

The resources which are used to make the project come true are contractor and worksite resources.
In contractor resources, you can find information about property, credibility, IPC, subcontractors,
Human Resources. In worksite resources, you can see work power, machinery, procurement, and
subcontractors. In worksite, you blame the contractor for making your works be late which is called
“CLAIM”. This can be done in initiation of the work due to taking over the worksite, advance payment
interruptions, lack of project delivering. You can have claim throughout the job and at the end of the
job. These are due to administrative and technical problems, application problems of the contract,
economical politics of the government, and OLAĞANÜSTÜ HALLER. When you have a claim, you
should pay attention to some states such as application of the contract, the time of the claim.

There are some documents which are compulsory to keep them at your worksite when you start
your job at the worksite. The main contract and its supplementary, İHALE and calculations (with
attachments), studies about the project during the İHALE. The permissions taken by the employer
and contractor and insurance must be ready for starting the project.

Now we are ready to set up a worksite. There are vital properties while we are setting up the
worksite such as the choosing the fields, preparing the vaziyet planı with operation, production,
social units, infrastructure units, transportation of element of units and attachment of them,
transportation of planned machinery and materials and their installation. Later on, worksite
management can be done grouping as office works (technical works and administrative works),
worksite works, and maintenance works. You cannot ignore the following chain.
Earth Works, Concrete Works, Architectural works ,Drainage Works , Accounting and Personal
Works, Surveying, Logistic and Buying, Subcontractor Administration, Camp Administration,
Engineering are the things you take into account when you plan a worksite organization.
Contractors must satisfy the conditions of the contract and drawings. They must finish the works
at the completion time. The minimum profit should not be below the considered profit. They
should pay attention to the method of construction and method of work. The control of progress
must be done with respect to planned program. The cost control, production control, and the
damage control must be done with a special attention. In the project control, main work
program, other work programs, weekly and monthly progress reports, cost control reports are
evaluated in this part. Planned activities and completed activities are shown on the same graphs
since we want to know what percentage of the planned work is actually done. Finally, the
demobilization of the construction site, the maintenance process stars for 5 or 10 years grantee.

I will focus on the construction project types, life cycle of them and the main concepts of
planning and control of the project. The construction projects are designed with respect to public
needs. These needs has variety, construction projects has a large range. For instance, Buildings
for staying, Hospitals for health, Schools for education, Dams for water supplying, Highways and
Bridges for transportation, factories for production, and Energy Power Plant Utilities for Energy…
etc. Therefore, classifying the construction types is difficult. However, there are generally four
types of the project as home projects, building projects, extreme engineering projects and
industrial projects. Concept and feasibility, design and engineering, procurement, construction,
start-up and implementation, operation and utilization are, life cycle of construction. As we learn,
planning and control of the project are done for finishing at the complement time (TIME),
finishing in the targeted budget (MONEY), having the targeted quality and purpose
(SERVICEBILITY). I explained what we were doing in the construction sector up to now; we
understood that we are dealing with different projects, so why should we consider time
management? Because the studies and the experiences indicated that we can have save ups up
to 25%. Insufficient planning and control may lead to exceeding of the budget up to 400%. The
cost of the project can also be 50% higher than normal cost due to insufficient planning and
control. 75% of the employers state that the reason of the budget exceeding is due to insufficient
planning and control. As a result, Time Management helps to minimize the delays and budget
exceeding.
