Order of Service:
Thursday: Order of Evening Prayer (p. 52-61)
Sunday: Morning Praise (p. 45-51)

First Reading: Genesis 12:1-8

Notice that through Abram (later Abraham) all peoples on earth will
be blessed. The Savior of the world, Jesus, came through Abram. God
calls us to let people know about the Seed of Abraham, the
Savior of the world.

LES Children Sing: “Ready Lord” @ 8 a.m. (A-L) & 10:30 a.m. (M-Z)

Second Reading: Romans 10:8-15

Do you have beautiful feet? God says “Yes!” if you are busy carrying
the Good News of Jesus and His love wherever you go and as you
support the work of missionaries throughout the world. God says,
“Yes!” if you are reminding the guilt-stricken sinner that Jesus died to
save him/her. May God give all of us “beautiful feet!”

Sermon Text: Matthew 28:19-20

Sermon Theme:

When Jesus Says

“ GO ! ”

Genesis 12:1-8
1 The LORD had said to Abram, "Leave your

country, your people and your father's household and go

to the land I will show you. 2 "I will make you into a
great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name
great, and you will be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who
bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all
peoples on earth will be blessed through you."
4 So Abram left, as the LORD had told him; and

Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old

when he set out from Haran. 5 He took his wife Sarai, his
nephew Lot, all the possessions they had accumulated and the people they had ac-
quired in Haran, and they set out for the land of Canaan, and they arrived there.
6 Abram traveled through the land as far as the site of the great tree of Moreh at

Shechem. At that time the Canaanites were in the land. 7 The LORD appeared to
Abram and said, "To your offspring I will give this land." So he built an altar there to
the LORD, who had appeared to him. 8 From there he went on toward the hills east
of Bethel and pitched his tent, with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east. There he
built an altar to the LORD and called on the name of the LORD.

Romans 10:8-15
8 But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,"

that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: 9 That if you confess with your mouth,
"Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will
be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with
your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11 As the Scripture says, "Anyone who
trusts in him will never be put to shame." 12 For there is no difference between Jew
and Gentile -- the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13
for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they

believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without
someone preaching to them? 15 And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it
is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"

Matthew 28:19-20
19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the

Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything
I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the
age."

CHILDREN’S MEDITATION TODAY

Children are invited to come to the front of church for the children’s devotion during
the singing of verse 2 of hymn 573, “Hark! The Voice of Jesus Crying”.
Parents are welcome to accompany their children to the front.

GUEST PREACHER
FROM “OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD”
What a blessing to have Pastor Jonathan Bare with
us this morning. Even though he is on the “other side of the
world” we will be able to speak with him as if he was
standing next to us. We are grateful for the expertise of
Terry Schwalenberg with the worship service today and
Ashley Zambo for the presentation between services.
May God richly bless Pastor Bare and Matthew Werner!

TALK WITH PASTOR BARE & MATT WERNER

BETWEEN SERVICES IN OUR FELLOWSHIP HALL
You will be able to talk with Pastor Jon Bare and our former intern, Matt Werner, in
our fellowship hall at 9:15 a.m. today. They will tell us more about their work in East
Asia. How incredible that a grandson of our congregation—Jon Bare and an intern
to our congregation– Matt Werner– are now serving the Lord 10,000 miles away.

INTERESTING NEWS ABOUT PASTOR JONATHAN BARE

The Lord called Pastor Bare to East Asia when he graduated from our Seminary a
year ago last May. His father, Pastor Jim Bare, serves in Owosso, Michigan, 40
miles from where Pastor Scharrer grew up.
He is the grandson of Mr. Hugo Bare, whose home was purchased in 1984 and be-
came the former “Grove St. Parsonage.” Jonathan is the nephew of Rob Bare and
Gary Bare who continue to serve the Lord here at St. Paul’s.
What a blessing to have this “Grandson of our congregation” share God’s Word
with us this morning. “Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds
among the peoples” (Psalm 96:3).

BLOOD PRESSURE CHECK AT CHURCH - Today @ 9-10:30 a.m.

You may have your blood pressure checked after the first service this Sunday
morning. Amy Krause and Ruth Schwalenberg, two registered nurses, are provid-
ing this service to our people. “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the
Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?” (1 Corinthians 6:19).

JESUS KIDS / YOUTH / TEENS - Come and See!

J
Children, youth, and adults are all invited to come and try the Bible Studies/
discussions available today between services. If you’ve never tried it, do come! We
have the slide for a wonderful entryway to Jesus’ Kids, the “ark through which chil-
dren can learn of Jesus and be saved. If you have any questions, contact Sarah
Owens (568-5806 or owens_sarah@hotmail.com, or either of your pastors. All are
welcome! Remember to bring a friend.

JESUS CARES BIBLE STUDY

Begins Today @ 9:15 a.m.
Our Sunday morning Jesus Cares Bible Study for the develop-
mentally disabled begins today. We will be meeting in the
Conference Room in the Church Office. “Whatever you have
done for one of the least of these,” Jesus says, “you
have done it unto me.” (Matthew 25:40).

RULES FOR THE SLIDE

Children will be able to go down the slide once a Sunday as they make their way to
Sunday School or our Jr. Bible Study. There will be helpers at the top and bottom
of the slide. “Little ones” who are afraid to go down the slide will be escorted down
the stairs.

LIFE-SIZE ANIMALS IN NOAH’S ARK

CHILDREN’S CENTER
This week we added three new
animals to the collection of animals in Noah’s
Ark Children’s Center. All of these
animals—along with the slide—have been
donated by members of the congregation.
We are grateful for their generosity. Little
children are fascinated by the animals.
“Look for the tiger under the stairs.”

WE EXPRESS OUR GRATITUDE

TO THE CHILDREN’S MINISTRY AREA COMMITTEE
The members of the Children’s Ministry Area Committee are:

Gary Strohm, Chairman

John Hupke
Vic Munro
Sandy Mayer,
Harry Reimer
Bonnie Rohde-Scholl, Preschool
Hope Rohde, Preschool
Advisory—Pastors Duncan
& Scharrer & Sarah Owens
Director of Jesus’ Kids

There have been many people in the past who have helped in various ways. With-
out the help of so many people we could not have done what God has enabled us to
do.

NOT EVERYTHING IS FINISHED IN CHILDREN’S CENTER

It has been our desire to have everything finished in the Children’s Center by last
Sunday, September 19th. While tremendous progress has been made toward this
goal, there are still several items to be added to the Center.

⇒ Some “hands-on”interactive activities for the Children to participate in so they

may learn about the Flood.
⇒ Life-like murals of Noah’s Ark and the Flood.
⇒ A dividing wall to partition the largest room into two smaller rooms in the south-
east corner of the lower level.
⇒ A display of educational materials for children to learn about the reality of the
Flood of Noah—it’s message of law and gospel—God’s judgment on sin and
God’s deliverance for all who trust in him. These materials will also demonstrate
in a fascinating way the historical accuracy of the Scriptures.
⇒ A desk with a computer by the registration counter.
⇒ A whiteboard on the wall in the large gathering area in the middle of the Chil-
dren’s Center. This will allow video presentations and interactive learning.
We talked about waiting until these above items were installed, but felt that the Je-
sus’ Kids ministry and the Before & After School care program needed to use this
space a.s.a.p..

LEND A LOVING HAND? - After School Care Needs Your Help

The Lord is richly blessing our After-School Care Program. Might you be free in the
afternoon from 3:00-4:30 p.m., 1-2 days a week to come visit and lend a hand, read
to the children, help with a craft, or share a hobby or a talent you have with the chil-
dren in our “After School Care Group?” This would be rewarding for the one pre-
senting his or her hobby and for the children to meet another caring adult from our
congregation. All volunteers fill out a background reference check. The Lord is
blessing our After-School Care so much, some are crying when it’s time to go home!
If you could lend a hand, give Sarah Owens a call: 920-568-5806.

THANKS FOR PRAYERS LAST SUNDAY - Pastor’s Marathon Run

The Lord answered our prayers last Sunday! He
provided a perfect running day—cool temperatures and
the sun hidden in the clouds. The Lord not only enabled
Pastor Scharrer to finish the 26.2 mile marathon, but He
enabled him to finish in the time of 3 hours, 37 minutes,
41 seconds, 2 minutes faster than last year!
Many thanks to those who sponsored Pastor in the
race. Once again, your “challenge goals” spurred him on
to the finish line. If you might still like to help the Escape
Teen Center by sponsoring Pastor Scharrer, you may do
so by signing up in the church office. With everyone’s help
we might still finish ahead of our record last year. Only a
thousand dollars more are needed. Thanks for your
prayers, love and support.
