Recipe 100 PPM Sulfide Solution

1.0 Formulation:
2.0 Materials:
2.1 100 ± 0.1 ml of 1000 ppm Sulfide Stock Solution (PN 2010437)
2.2 500 ± 5 ml SAOB solution (PN 2010438)
2.3 500 ml Distilled water
2.4 100 ml volumetric flask ± 0.2 ml
2.5 500 ml graduated cylinder
2.6 1 liter plastic volumetric flask
2.7 Magnetic stir plate and stir bar
2.8 (2) 500 ml Nalgene Plastic bottles (PN 9520004)
2.9 (2) Avery Labels 5164.

3.0 Procedure:
3.1 Open a new Lot # in the Laboratory Logbook, the Lot# will be the SO# or the WO# if no SO# is
available.
3.2 Record the chemical supplier, name, grade, Lot # and amount for each of the chemicals used,
example, Spectrum KCl, AR grade, Lot AE45321, 100.5 gm
3.3 Add 500 ± 5 ml of SAOB to the flask.
3.4 Add 100 ± 0.2 ml of the 1000 ppm Sulfide solution to the flask.
3.5 Add distilled water to the 1000 ml mark on the flask.
3.6 Add stir bar and stir for 5 minutes..
4.1 Using a calibrated Sulfide Ion Sensor, verify that the solution is 100 ± 1 ppm.
4.2 Adjust up with the 1000 ppm stock solution and down with a 50% mixture of SAOB and distilled
water.
4.3 Record the measured value and any adjustments in the logbook.
4.4 Pour the solution into the bottles and seal the bottles.
4.5 Print label with Lot# and expiration date, 1 month from the date of manufacture.
4.6 Place label slightly above the center of the bottle and level.
4.7 Release to manufacturing.
