Kingdom of heaven

Kingdom of heaven is a modern film that involves crusades that were centred on Balian

and Ibelin. The main theme of this movie is to promote peace and coexistence between different

religions. The main purposes of the movie are to encourage different religions not to give up in the

struggle of faith while sacrificing themselves.

In the movie, there are some of the scenes that were incorrect with historical facts. In one

event, Saladin a Muslim leader picks up a cross that had fallen which bring up the question of

which Muslim leader would show such respect to a cross? Historically, it didn’t happen. Saladin

actually ordered that all the crosses on the buildings be taken down when he took over the city.

Secondly, in most events, Christians in this movies never pray which is historically incorrect since

in real life most Christians pray.

The event when William of Tyre claimed the fluctuation of Sybella by Balian’s older

brother in the movie is historically correct. Balian’s brother was a widower who was over twice

the age of Sybella. Secondly, the scene in the film where Saladin hands over a cup of iced water

is historically correct as it portrays the Muslim’s sign where prisoner’s lives are spared. Those that

are not handed the cup of iced water according to Muslim religion they are to be executed.

According to the different scenes in the movie, it is correct to suggest that the movie was

made for Hollywood as it did portray the subject of the movie. The subject of the movie was to

show the audience the struggle of faith in religions, the doubt in religion and the quest to bring

good into the world. The movie details how people from different religions especially the Christian

sacrifices their personal lives into bringing out the best religion at all times.

The various lessons learnt from the movie is that one, the actions of a man is his and his

alone as portrayed in the movie when the Jerusalem leper king reminds Balian on their first

meeting. Secondly, that every man is responsible for making the choice to either follow the

demands of the different persons who claim to rule us or to seek out for the stepping stones God

put before us.

Brave Heart

Braveheart is an American epic war film produced in 1995 whose main character is

Wallace who leads the Scots in the first war Scottish independence that was against King

Edward. The main theme of this movie is freedom. The purpose of the movie is to explain the

various feelings of being a slave and how Scots sacrificed their loved ones in order to gain

freedom for their country.

Wallace is born into poverty and living a simple life of a farmer before he is taken to live

with his uncle later after his father dies. This scene is historically incorrect since, in real life, it is

believed by historians that Wallace was born to the aristocracy of the Scottish. The events where

the Scots used to paint their faces during the war is historically incorrect since the tradition of the

Scots did not support blue face-painting during the war by the time of Wallace.

However, there are those events in the Braveheart movie that are historically correct.

Firstly, the event where Wallace led the Scots into victory during the war is historically correct

as it indicates, in reality, the victory that the Scots gained during the war with the English men.

Secondly, the scene where Wallace left the town and came back with supporters who helped in

defeating Sheriff leading to his death is historically correct when compared to the real life where

the Sheriff was killed after his assassination during the rebellion by the Scots.

Braveheart movie clearly portrays the subject of the movie which was to inspire Scottish

national pride after the victory of gaining independence from the Englishmen. Thus, this movie

was made for Hollywood as it explains the subject of the movie. Warriors from Scotland are

encouraged to represent their country during any war as Wallace did. The main lesson learnt

from this movie is the importance of leadership. Wallace as the main character clearly defines

true leadership during the war against the English. Good leadership is brought about when one

has a vision and is brave.
