Director of Christ Cathedral Vietnamese Music Ministries
Christ Cathedral in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange, California is seeking a full-time Director
of Vietnamese Music Ministries to join the Cathedral Music Staff. The DVMM will become an integral
part of this large, multi-cultural Cathedral Parish. Under the direction of the Director of Music Minis-
tries, the DVMM will elevate and strengthen the existing Vietnamese music program. In addition, the
DVMM will work with the English and Spanish staff musicians in creating an integrated, world-class
Cathedral Music Ministry on this iconic campus – formerly the Crystal Cathedral campus, which
boasts the famous Hazel Wright Organ, the 5th largest organ in the world.
Qualifications:
The Director of Christ Cathedral Vietnamese Music Ministries must be an outstanding musician
• Well-versed in the his/her knowledge of Vietnamese Liturgical Music
• Knowledge of all sacred music from chant to contemporary
• Must possess excellent choral conducting skills
• Must possess excellent keyboard skills; organ skills preferred
• Applicants must have at minimum, a Bachelor of Music Degree; Masters Degree preferred
The Director of Christ Cathedral Vietnamese Music Ministries must also have liturgical experience in
a Roman Catholic Church
• Must demonstrate liturgical competence, knowing the rites and documents of the Roman
Catholic Church
• Should have general knowledge of the pipe organ and its role in the liturgy

Job Description:
• Serve as a member of the Cathedral Music Staff, representing the Vietnamese Community
• Establish a sacred musical repertoire, both congregational and choral, which is Catholic, wor-
thy of a Cathedral and integrated with the English and Spanish communities
• Further develop the Vietnamese choirs, both adult and children, through skill-building, reper-
toire selection and shaping of choral sound
• Liturgical music planning for Sunday liturgies, holy days and feasts
• Assist with planning and execution of diocesan liturgies as needed
• Work with parish weddings, funerals and sacramental celebrations
Salary: $45,760 plus benefits
