THE INVOLVEMENT OF NON-MUSLIM IN THE MATTERS OF ISLAMIC

RELIGIOUS ACCORDING TO ISLAMIC LAW

ABSTRAK

The issue of involvements of non-Muslim in the Islamic religious matters are still a
sensational discussion nowadays. Most of the issues discussed are matters that are
sensitive among the Muslims. Until now, debates and discussions among the
intellectual Muslims and Islamic scholars regarding the issue of kalimah Allah, the
issue of hudud, entering mosque and surau, reciting and learning the Qur’an, convey
and answering Islamic greeting, attending break fasting event, becoming a Shariah
court judge, assisting the Qur’ban festival during Idul Adha, selling mushaf, religious
books, hanging Islamic calligraphy on the business premises and involve in hub halal
business field and also Islamic banking. Their involvement in those matters has arose
confusion among the Muslim’s society in Malaysia. Thus this research aims to
identify and clarify the position of the non-Muslims in Malaysia, explain their rights
and responsibilities and also to elaborate the position of their involvement in the
Islamic religious matters. This research also aims to search for solutions to solve those
issues based on appropriate guidelines that are in accordance with the current
changing of globalization era, based on the Qur’an and sunnah. This discussion is
based on argumentations of classical and contemporary Islamic scholars by using
analysis document method that focuses on the Islamic law. The research discovers that
there are certain issues that the non-Muslim cannot interfere in the Islamic matters
such as the use of kalimah Allah, hudud, becoming a Shariah court judge, convey and
answering Islamic greeting, selling mushaf or Islamic books and hanging Islamic
calligraphy at the business premises. Meanwhile, a part or other things are allowed in
Islam such as entering the mosque or surau, reciting and learning the Qur’an,
attending break fasting event, assisting the Qur’ban festival during the Aidul Aidha,
involving in the hub halal business and Islamic banking. The sensitivity of Muslim
ummah should be protected and taken care of in order to preserve the holiness of
Islam. Thus, a wise approach of Islamic preaching should be continuously applied
among the non-Muslim by exposing the beauties of Islam as a universal religion that
can be accepted by all to preserve the peace and harmony of our multi religion
country.
