One day, Kim and her friend, Lisa, were at a shopping centre. As they were walking

around the shopping centre, Kim saw a beautiful bag. “ Lisa, look ! What a beautiful

bag!” said Kim. “ It costs RM100.00. That’s really expensive !” Lisa said. “ But I really like it !

I am going to buy it,” said Kim.

Lisa advised, “ You already have a bag. You should not buy something you do not need.”

Lisa also told Kim that it was important to spend money wisely and save for the future.

“ You’re right. I should not buy things I do not need. I should save my money for a rainy

day,” said Kim. Then, Kim and Lisa left the shopping centre and headed home.

It was Monday. Dad came home early. I was curious. He talked to Mum. They started to
make phone calls and pack a few things. “ Dad, Mum, what’s happening ?” I asked.
Something was going on and I had to know what it was.
“ There was a fire, Nurul ,” Mum replied. “ Mak Dilah’s house was burnt to the
ground. The neighbor had a meeting and decided to help Mak Dilah rebuild her house.”
“ Isn’t building a house difficult ?” I asked.
“ If many people come to help, it will be easy ,” said Dad. “ Pravin’s father is an
architect. He volunteered to help to design the new house. Kim Seng’s uncle is a
contractor. He will help to rebuild it.”
“ Many neighbours are giving donations. Our neighbour who owns a hardware
store is contributing building materials,” added Mum.
“ Wow, that’s wonderful. I want to help too !” I said excitedly.
“ Well, you can collect donations from your schoolmates. I will call your
headmaster tomorrow to discuss it with him,” replied Dad.
“ That’s great ! I will ask Kim Seng, Kinah, and Pravin to help, too,” I said.
