If you choose your life partner from the professional world, you need to be very

careful about your decision because the decision is very complicated as you need to

think not only for yourself but also for your family.

Figure 2 shows the type career in the professional world that becomes the choice

of IPG in choosing a partner for Kampus Tawau students in 2010. The six careers are

education, medical, law, mechanical, economy and politic. As indicated, education is the

most popular kind of career among the IPG Kampus Tawau students who make up 50%

while the least popular of career is law which is only 3.3%.

The most popular career for the student in choosing a life partner is education

(50%), followed by mechanical (16.7%), medical (13.3%), economy (10%), politics

(6.7%) and the least popular is law (3.3%). As indicated, education is the highest
choice for the IPG Kampus Tawau students. It can be inferred that most of the students

choose education because a partner that have the same profession with themselves

and it is easier to understand the professional hazard for the same professional life

partner. Students also choose mechanical as an important career in choosing partner

because person who work in mechanical field have a great financial income. Some of

the students choose medical because having a partner in a medical field is a pride for

them even though this profession require a lot of time and will not have enough time for

each other. About 10% of students choose economy as they are more likely to choose a

partner that have intelligent mind in managing a success business. Politics is another

career with the percentage of 6.7%. This could be because politicians have a great

leadership behavior in a professional world and it can easily attract the attention of

others. Only 3.3% students choose law as their career option, probably because law

requires a lot of time in work and there is not enough time to build a good relationship.

With so many career option that we asked the students to choose, it is no wonder

that the students already realized that career is important in choosing a partner, which it

can lead to a wonderful relationship.

Choosing a life partner is also a great responsibility, as the decision does not only

decides the fate of two human beings, but also affects the lifestyle of two families and

people associated with them.

Figure 1 compares different kind of reason in choosing their life partner for IPG

Kampus Tawau students in 2010. The five reasons are money (23.3%), maturity (13.3),

time (13.3%), love (13.3%), family (10.0%) and future guarantee (26.7%). Future

guarantee is the highest reason for the IPG Kampus Tawau students while family is the

least popular in choosing a life partner.

The most reason for the student in choosing a life partner is future guarantee

(26.7%), followed by money (23.3%), maturity (13.3%), time (13.3%), love (13.3%) and

family (10%). As indicated, future guarantee is the highest reason for the IPG Kampus

Tawau students. It can be inferred that most of the students choose future guarantee as
the most aspect in choosing partner because a partner that has future guarantee

capable in supporting you in all the way of your life and will secure their future, which

are one of the most important key factors in having a happy married life. Students also

choose money as the second important factor in choosing partner because it is lead to

stable financial affairs. Some of the students choose maturity because a mature partner

is more responsible and is serious in having a relationship. About 13.3% of students

choose time as they are more suitable to choose a long time relationship before they

seek a partner. However, it is surprising to note that only 13.3% of students choose

love. This could be because students find out that relationship will not success if there

are no supports from other factors, such as money and future guarantee. Family is the

least popular in choosing a life partner due to rapid time changing. Nowadays peoples

are more comfortable in choosing partners based on their own observation. So there

are least people which still depend on their family in choosing their right partner.

Due to the preference of students for future guarantee, there is a need for us to

have an educational qualification so that our future is more guaranteed and a good

relationship can be build between our own partners.
