CHAPTER 1

This chapter contains the introduction and the local setting. This chapter also includes the
statement of the problem, the significance of the study, and the scope and delimitations.

College readiness is determined by students' ability to skip remedial or developmental

education and enroll directly in college-level courses. As a result, the incorrect conclusion
has been reached that tourism provides learners with no real future. However, the overall
positive assessment of the curriculum is accompanied by reservations and doubts. Some
students wanted to know if the program prepared them for a successful career in the tourism
industry. Some parents are still hesitant to allow their children to study and work in the
tourism industry because of some misconceptions. According to the factors listed, this study
will determine whether senior high school students at STI College San Jose del Monte
Bulacan believe they are prepared to pursue a BSTM course.

CHAPTER 2
This chapter provides relevant literature and studies from different authors and researchers
that contain philosophical and empirical information. It includes local and foreign works to
strengthen the legitimacy of the study. It presents a synthesis to outline this study's essential
details.

CHAPTER 3
As part of the empirical findings from the relevant literature and studies covered in the
preceding chapter, this chapter covers the framework used in the study. In addition, this will
also cover how these concepts relate to one another under this scrutiny.

It describes the various methods for gathering data and information.
Identifying other students' suggestions for improving the reliability of our research can be a
fantastic opportunity. While distributing survey questionnaires can answer our research
problem because our research employs qualitative data collection methods. For the
preparation of data, A lot of the analysis of the data depends upon the set integrity achieved
during data collection, and the final step that we select for analyzing the data is to prepare
and validate the data to ensure that validation serves as an essential tool for the survey.

CHAPTER V
DEMOGRAPHIC PROFILE
This chapter features the presentation, analysis of the data, and interpretation of the
database on the survey questionnaire and the response of the respondents, the discussion
of the data, and the result of the responses.

From the category of sex shown in THIS Table, the majority of the respondents are female,
accumulating a frequency of thirty-three (33) and 66 % of the total sample size. However,
seventeen (17) male respondents represent 34 % of the total sample size.

STRANDS
As seen table 6, is about the strands of the respondents. The Tourism Operations strand has
the majority of respondents with (28) out of (50) total respondents, with a percentage of 56
%. On the other hand, the Culinary Arts strand accumulated (22) respondents, 44 % of the
total sample size.

GENERAL QUESTIONS

The first factor, the choice of parents, comes with four (4) statements/questions that serve as
the basis of this study in determining the impact of the said factor on the respondents.
Succeeding in the weighted mean of 3.38 indicates that the majority of the respondents
answered neutral to the statement/question that they appreciated their parents for giving
them full support in taking the BSTM course. Supporting this claim with the weighted mean
of 2.64, where the majority of the respondents answered neutral to the statement/question
that they will pursue the BSTM program because their parents encouraged them to do so.
After the weighted mean of 1.66, this signifies that 26 out of 50 respondents strongly
disagree that they were obligated to obey their parents in choosing BSTM as their course in
college. Furthermore, a weighted mean of 1.40 indicates that 37 out of 50 respondents
strongly disagree that they will pursue the BSTM because their parents took the same
program.

Regarding the second factor, the influence of peers, this also relates to four (4)
statements/questions. A weighted mean of 3.84 reveals that 26 out of 50 respondents
agreed that they embrace the advice they get from peers they value the most. A weighted
mean of 3.56 signifies that 20 out of 50 respondents agree that the current peer groups that
they belong to share thoughts and opinions in choosing a course for their college. Summing
up, the weighted mean of 3.44 shows that 17 out of 50 respondents also agreed that they
appreciated the information given by their friends to take the BSTM course. In contrast with
the first three statements/questions, a weighted mean of 2.14 indicates that the majority of
the respondents disagree that they will pursue the course of BSTM in college because it is
the decision of their peers.

Personal ambition is the third factor, which consists of four (4) statements/questions that
serve as the foundation of this study in determining the impact of the said factor on the
respondents. With a weighted mean of 3.50 and a raw tally of 14/50 of the students, the
majority of the respondents answered "agree" to the statement/question that they feel
excited whenever they have a new discussion about the BSTM course. This claim is
supported by the weighted mean of 3.42 and the raw tally of 14/50 of the students, where
the majority of the respondents answered "agree" to the statement/question that they are
interested in pursuing the BSTM program to broaden their knowledge and skills. And
followed by the weighted mean of 3.38 and the raw tally of 13/50 of the students, where
majority of the respondents answered "neutral" to the statement/question that they will
choose the BSTM. Furthermore, a weighted mean of 3.22, supported by a raw tally of 12/50
of students, responded "neutral" to the statement/question that they must be qualified
enough to take the BSTM program.

The last factor is "career opportunities." The weighted mean resulted in 3.90% of the raw
tally of 21/50 students agreeing that they believe this course is widely accessible and could
be beneficial to them when they begin applying for jobs in the future. Following the weighted
mean of 3.66, the weighted mean result with the raw tally of 16/50 students was "agree" that
there are many job opportunities for them in the future when they consider taking the BSTM
course, and the 3.56 weighted mean result with the raw tally of 19/50 students was "agree"
that they will take the BSTM program because the offered jobs are in high demand soon.
Lastly, the 3.48 weighted mean results, with the support of the raw tally of 18 out of 50
students, indicate that they agree that they desire to pursue the BSTm because of the salary
and the additional benefits that they will soon gain

SUMMARY OF THE FINDINGS

A. Demographic profile of the respondents.

-The results revealed that 33 or 66 percent of the respondents are female, while 17 or 34
percent are male. It shows that the number of females is greater than the number of males.
The results also revealed that 28 or 56 percent of Tourism Operations strands, while 22 or
44 percent are Culinary Arts strands. Therefore, they could have noticed what and how the
factors affect them.

B. Factors affecting the students in choosing the BSTM program.

Based on the data gathered there are four (4) factors affecting the students in choosing the
BSTM program for grade 12 students. Below is the ranking of the basis listed from highest to
lowest:
1. Career Opportunities
2. Personal Ambition
3. Peer Influence
4. Choice of Parents

C. Hindrances of Grade 12 students in pursuing the BSTM program.

The result of this study shows the hindrances influence choosing the BSTM course. The
following is the ranking of the hindrance’s basis listed from highest to lowest:
1. Considering the family’s financial capabilities
2. Hesitant to pursue the BSTM because of the qualification that must be attained.
3. Not confident enough to pursue the BSTM course.
4. Considering the practicality as the hindrance in taking the BSTM course.
5. Discrimination about physical appearance.

CONCLUSION

The purpose of the research was highlighted to be able to gain an understanding on the
Factors AffectingTourism Operation And Culinary Arts Senior High School Strands In
Pursuing Tourism Management Program.

The researchers conclude that:

1. It can be stated that the highest factors that affect the students to choose the Bachelor of
Science in Tourism Management course is the Career Opportunities, the course is in line
with their set goals in life, how easy it is to get a job upon graduation as well as gain
admission into the course, and other people.

2. Followed by the Personal Ambition, where their interests with the course or topics related
to it are being discussed. Students' advantage that they have to work with is their own skill.
The students have the potential to pursue their career because the skill they have is
appropriate for their course. Their skills are cultivated in their homes and as well in their
school.

3. According to the study's findings, students' career success is most likely to be achieved if
the right course suited to their personality, ability, and intellect serves as their guide in
selecting the course they will take in college. However, some of the respondents agreed that
they were hesitant to pursue the BSTM program because of certain qualifications that they
would need to attain. That is one of the problems discovered by the researchers. The
majority of respondents were concerned about their physical appearance and whether they
were physically fit for tourism.

4. Family-related factors, employability or the realistic possibility of finding a stable job, then
becomes an important factor in career choice. Immigrant parents and children seek jobs that
will support the entire family because they come from a collective culture. They must also
deal with the expectation that they will be able to financially support their families once they
have completed their education and that parents are deeply involved and influential to their
high-achieving children’s college choices.

5. The factor that affects the most with regards to the decision-making of choosing the BSTM
course is the financial stability of the family. With this, the student finds it complicated to
decide whether to go for the course that he or she desires or to go for the course that his or
her family can afford.

RECOMMENDATION
The following recommendations are constituted in consideration of the results and
conclusion of the study. The analysis revealed that the factors in this study, which are the
Choice of Parents, Peer Influence, and Personal Ambition, significantly impacted the
decision-making of Tourism Operations and Culinary Arts Senior High School students in
pursuing the BSTM program in college. In this regard, the researchers also recommend
considering the following:

1. The students should determine the other factors that could potentially pose a predicament
to them in the future.

2. Future Researchers should broaden the existing analysis concerning the hindrances
students could face while planning their prospective careers.

3. Researchers would like to advocate that Parents should be their children’s support
system, especially in the crucial phase where the students have to decide for the future
ahead of them, to be the parents who guide and support their children up to the time they
finally make a decision.

4. Organize a seminar for grade 12 graduating students of STI College San Jose Del Monte
to provide information about several factors that can affect the decision they made in
choosing the BSTM program and to help students choose realistic and amenable programs
based on their interests, resources, and Capabilities.

5. The Educational Institutions offering the Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management

program may
implement a career orientation for the students to properly assess their standpoint in
choosing the said
course
