ABSTRACT

Title:

“ AN ASSESSMENT OF CAREER GUIDANCE PROGRAMOF


SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL AT TAGUIG CITY UNIVERSITY:
INPUTS FOR PROGRAM ENHANCEMENT “

This study determines the assessment of Grade 11 Career Guidance program.

More specifically, it seeks to answers the following questions:

1. What is the profile of the respondents in terms of;


1.1. Age
1.2. Gender
1.3. Track / Strand

2. What is the extent of implementation of the career guidance program of the Senior High
School in terms of the following factors;
2.1. Learning Objectives
2.2. Learning Content
2.3. Organization
2.4. Learning Experience
3. Is there any significant difference between the profile of the respondents and the extent of
the implementation of the Grade 11 career guidance program and their profile?
4. Based on the findings of the study, what may be provided to enhance the career guidance
program?

Findings

1. Demographic Profile

Top in the data was respondents with an age of 17 years old a total of 74 or 49.3 %. It

was followed by 53 respondents or 35.3 percent with and age of 18 years old. Next was

an age of 16 years old or 8.0% of the respondents followed by 19 years old or 5.3% of

the respondents., And lastly, there were 1.3% or 2 with an age of 20 years old and 1 or

0.7 percent with an age of 15 years old. All in all, there were 150 respondents that

implied 100% population.

2. presents the profile of the respondents as to their sex. It could be gleaned from

the data that more than half of the respondents are male with 79 or 53 percent,

the remaining 47 percent or a frequency of 71 comprises the female category.

This indicates that there is a balance distribution of respondents in terms of sex.

Several studies also show that gender distribution of students will depend on

their preferred course once these students enter the college level.

3. As reflected from the table, there are three identified categories; ABM with a frequency

of 53 or 35.33 percent followed by HUMMS with 51 or 34 percent and the least number

of 46 or 30.67 percent belongs to STEM. The result indicates that many students

preferred the business-related course and humanities than those who want to pursue

engineering, science and math related courses.


4 illustrates the result of the data gathering as to the assessment on the extent of

implementation of career guidance of the senior high school in terms of learning

objectives. As perceived by the respondents, the learning objectives of the program on the

indicator, The objectives of the modules were specific, relevant and very timely is highly

implemented while other indicators reflect an interpretation of ‘implemented’. Moreover,

the overall mean of 3.40 indicates that the respondents agreed that the implementation of

the program in terms of learning objectives is executed.

5. Extent of Implementation of Career Guidance Program of the Senior Highschool

as to Learning Content

presents the extent of implementation of career guidance of the senior high school in

terms of learning content. It could be gleaned from the table that all the indicators are

implemented, such that the module is aligned with the objectives, suited for the needs and

level of thinking of the students, the assignments are also useful and all the activities

accommodate individual

differences. The overall mean of 3.04 confirms that the career guidance program of the

senior high is realized.

6. Extent of Implementation of Career Guidance Program of the Senior Highschool as


to Organization

exemplifies the extent of implementation of career guidance program of the senior high

school as to organization. As shown in the results, the overall mean of 3.19 denotes that

the respondents are convinced that the program is implemented. More so, they agreed

that the module used for the career program is well-organized in terms of content and
flow, it is also sequenced in a logical manner, furthermore the time given in conducting

the module is appropriate.

7. Extent of Implementation of Career Guidance of the Senior High school as to


Learning Experiences

The extent of implementation of career guidance of the senior high school as to learning

experiences. The overall assessment of the respondents on modular approach of the career

guidance program reflected to be ‘implemented’ as the numerical data is 3.24. The activities are

found to be easy to conduct but very meaningful, are important to the needs of the students as

they choose their tracks in Senior High School and challenging yet stimulating for the students.

8. Difference between the Assessment of the Respondents on the Extent of

Implementation of Career Guidance and their Profile in terms of Age

The difference between the assessment of the respondents and their profile in terms of age. It

could be seen from the computed F-value that two indicators show significant difference, the

learning objectives and experience. This indicates that the assessment of the respondents on

modular approach of career guidance program as to the learning objectives and experience is

linked to the respondents’ age. Maturity of the students plays vital role in the measurement of the

implementation of the said program.

Conclusions

Based on the findings of the study, the following conclusions are drawn;
1. The researcher conclude that there is a need to implement the career guidance program in

senior high school.

2. The researcher conclude that the three groups of respondents have the same perception of

what they observed with the career guidance program when it comes to the above

mentioned variables.

3. The researcher then conclude that the career guidance program helps a lot to all senior

high school students.

Recommendations

Based of the findings and conclusions presented, the following recommendations are

suggested;

1. The researchers recommend that the career guidance program should be implemented in

senior high school students.

2. The researchers recommend should enhance or improved the career guidance program of

senior high school.

3. The researchers recommend that the career guidance program will benefited the students

and the teachers as well.
