The first part is a conversation between two speakers set in an
everyday social context.

• Weekdays: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday…
• Dates: 25 December, 18 November 1999
• Time: 10.00 AM, 10.00 PM, 22.00, 10 o’clock
• Period: 15 minutes, an hour, 4 days, 2 weeks, 10 years…

Tips and strategies
• Read all of the question instruction carefully
• Require you to write in facts and figures such as times and dates.
• Do not just write in the first time or date that you hear.
• Take a moment to understand, highlight keywords.
• Use the information given to predict the types of answer you should
be listening for.
• Sometimes the speaker will correct their own answer.
• Listen carefully and fill in the missing information.
