CHAPTER I

LEVEL OF PREPAREDNESS OF SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ON


ROCT MANDATORY

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

ROTC is believed and seen to promote culture of discipline and


responsibility: provides opportunity to inculcate the values of
patriotism, nationalism, and character, building; provides training that
will develop students leadership skills.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The study focused on the level of preparedness of senior high school


students on ROCT Mandatory grade 12 students only.

Speficically, it aims to answer the following questions:

1). what is the pre- test score of the level of preparedness of grade 12
students for college ?

2). What ia the post test score of the grade 12 students of the
respondents before the mentoring program?

3). Is there a significant effect of mentoring program on the ROCT score


of the respondents and their pre- test and post test as revealed by the
preparedness of senior high school students on ROCT Mandatory.
4). What is tha level of preparedness by the senior high school students
on ROCT Mandatory or the first year college?

NULL HYPOTHESIS

The hypothesis will be raised in the study and will be tasted. Level of
significance.

Ho. There is no significant effect of mentoring program on the ROTC


Mandatory scores of the respondents.

Significant of the study

The study focused on explaining the effect of mentoring program on


the level of preparedeness of senior high school students or ROCT
Mandatory grade 12 student at faith.

Move over, the results of the study will be beneficial to the following:

Respondents. The respondents will have an awareness on the


important of the mentoring program and it role on the important of
their ROCT.

Teachers/ Mentors. The result of the study will help the teachers/
mentors provide encouragement to think of i deas that will give proper
guidance to the student.

Guidance Staff The result of the study may provide on assessment of


the mentoring program whether it is effective or not.
Parents The result of the study will help the parents of the respondent
feel secured because there are programs in the institution like the
mentoring program that will help their children cope and adjust with
the adversities of college life.

SCOPE AND LIMITATION OF THE STUDY

This study focused of the effect of mentoring program on the level of


preparedness of the senior high school students on ROCT Mandatory of
freshemen collge students of foots mindanao state university tawi-tawi
college of technology and oceanography during the first semester of
academic year 2023- 2024 the respondents of the study were
composed 200 randomly students where comprise 90% of the total
population. The results of this study and should not be used as a
measure of the effect of mentoring program on the ROTC of the
students who do net belong to the population of this study.

1). Focus of the study focusing on a research topic is narrowing (or


sometimes broadening) a topic so that you can demonstrate a good
understanding of it, including enough examples and important details,
withis the size limite of the you are required to produce.

2). Time Allotment The act of assigning various hours of one's day,
week or year to particular activities, specially those falling within
categories of work and leisure.

3). Respondents The number of people who answered a survey. For


most question types, each respondent provides only one answer to a
question, but in the case of multiple- answers questions, one
respondent can provide more than one answer. Responses; the number
of answers provided by the people who answered a survey.

4).Research design/ Instrument The research design refers to the


overall strategy that you choose to integrate the different components
of the study in a coherent and logical way there by, ensuring you will
effectively address the research problem; it constitutes the blue print
for the collection, measurement, and analysis of data.

DEFINITION OF TERM

ROCT- Basre Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps ( NROTC)


Component of the national service training program ( NSTP).

Mentoring program- An intervention program where as the mentor


builds rapport and trust and guides the mentee to help to cope with
their problems as they face the every changes in life.

Pre- test- Is an assessment measure give to participants after they have


received treatment as part of a research study.

Applicable- Applying or capable of being applied, relevant, suitable,


appropriate an applicaple role.

Coherent- Able to talk or express yourself in a clear way that can be


easily understood.
