Chapter 1

Introduction to the Study

This chapter includes five parts: (1) Background and

Theoretical Framework of the Study, (2) Statement of the

Problem and Hypotheses, (3) Significance of the Study, (4)

Definition of Terms, and (5) Delimitation of the Study.

Part One, Background and Theoretical Framework of the

Study, provides the introduction and rationalizes the

importance of conducting the research. It presents the

theoretical framework which serves as the foundation or base

of reference of this study.

Part Two, Statement of the Problem and Hypotheses,

explains the purpose of conducting the inquiry and the

general and specific problems that guide the investigation

of the study.

Part Three, Significance of the Study, states the

essence and importance of the study and its benefits to the

recipients: students, language teachers, school

administrators, parents, future researchers and others who

can derive and obtain such positive results.

Part Four, Definition of Terms, defines the

terminologies used in the inquiry both conceptually and

operationally.

Part Five, Scope and Delimitation of the Study,

specifies the scope of the problem, the nature of the

respondents, their number and limitations in the reference,

population, and instruments.

Background and Theoretical Framework of the Study

When present all Grade Level Preparedness of Senior

High School Student in Work Immersion. The students has

being patient to be positive for this Level Performance and

be ready for college.

Education is one of the most important and efficient

way towards an individual developing into a useful part of

workforce in the industry. Knowledge has no substitution

towards society’s technological advancement where in modern

civilization is in need of educational progress.

Statement of the Problem and the Hypothesis

This study aims to determine and measure the level of

preparedness of Senior High School in Work Immersion

This was sought to answer to the following questions;

1. How do we measure the Level of Preparedness of Senior

High School Students in Work Immersion?

2. What is the level of learning of the students in

using the tools to make them ready for Work Immersion?

3. What is the level of immersion performance of grade

12 students as evaluated by the facilitator during the

statement?

4. What is the significant relationship between the

preparedness of Senior High School Students in Work

Immersion?
4

    5.

Based on the aforementioned problems, the following

hypotheses were tested:

    1. There is no significant difference among the levels

of language learning strategies in terms of vocabulary,

grammar, and pronunciation of the Grade 8 students.

    2. There is no significant difference among the levels

of retention skills in terms of vocabulary, grammar, and

pronunciation of the Grade 8 students.

    5. There is no significant relationship between

language learning strategies and retention skills of Grade 8

students in English.

Significance of the Study

This study was undertaken because it bore importance to the

following stakeholders: Students, Work Immersion Teachers,

School Administrator Parents, Future Researchers.

5

Students. This primary group of individuals who would be

benefited by the findings of this study. The knowledge and

information that will be generated would provide them some

guide/advice about the immersion to make them ready to take

the immersion.

Work Immersion Teachers. Work Immersion could surely benefit

the findings of this study. They would provide the knowledge

and practices to students. Through the findings, Work

Immersion teachers would help the Senior High School

Students in choosing their career wisely. With this mind

they may also seek help to utilize their teaching

performance by devising electric strategies, attending

seminars and conferences also in pursuing post graduate

studies to improve and help students for their career

choices.

School Administrators. The knowledge from this study would

also benefit the school administrators for it would provide

background information as to the strategies to be

recommended to their teachers to employ in class

specializing the careers. This would also encourage them to

put the students into practice the appropriate decision in

selecting their career.

6

Parents. The findings of this study would likewise benefit

the parents of the students. They would be make conscious as

their roles and responsibilities to their children. They

would be able to understand the nature of their children in

terms of their ability and skills. With this, parents would

have to portray a very huge and important part in

supporting, motivating and guiding their children in studies

at home.

Future Researchers. This study would also be very beneficial

to the future researchers who would opt to study along this

line. For them to have an advance learning to face all the

struggle in work immersion and the same time how to be

prepared. And give a knowledge on have a better study to be

conducted.

Definition of Terms

The following terms are conceptually defined for the

purpose of clarity and understanding:

Level of Preparedness-refers to the increments of

planning and readiness dictated by Senior High School

Students .

In this study,’Level of Preparedness’

Delimitation of the Study

This descriptive-survey study aimed to determine the

learning strategies and retention skills of Grade 8 students

of Bitadton National High School during the school year 2019

– 2020.

The respondents of the study were the 99 Grade 8

students out of 132 of Bitadton National High School

enrolled during the school year 2019 – 2020. Stratified

random sampling was used.

To gather the data, an adopted and modified

questionnaire was used Language Learning Strategies

Questionnaires (Askar, 2015, Gürata 2008, and

www.researchgate.net/publication/326803108)and a researcher-

made Retention Skills Test.

The independent variable of this study was the language

learning strategies while the dependent variable was the

retention skills.

To describe the obtained data, the mean and standard

deviation were utilized for the descriptive analysis. For

the inferential analysis, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and

Pearson r were used. All inferential tests were set at 0.05

alpha level of significance.
