To Whom It May Concern,

It is a pleasure to be writing this letter of recommendation for David Nelkin. As David’s US History teacher, I
have continually been impressed with his exceptional quality of work as a student, and outstanding character as a
person. He displays great leadership skills and a strong work ethic.

Buckingham Charter Magnet High School is a small college prep school with an emphasis on STEAM (Science,
Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) and very high expectations. As a Social Studies teacher at this school I
strived to have our students not only master the content but come to their own reasoned conclusions about
historical and current events. In this very competitive atmosphere, David continues to exceed expectations.

Mr. Nelkin does not merely complete assigned work in order to receive a grade, but rather, synthesizes new
information in a broader understanding of the subject. His eloquent style and natural ability to articulately express
himself through his writing is demonstrated in every assignment that he turns in. His work consistently shows not
only completion, but higher level critical thinking skills. In addition to his academic success, David is someone
who is reflective and intentional with his words and actions. He is one of the must genuine and authentically
good nature students I have had the pleasure to teach.

David has a great rapport with his classmates and the staff of the entire school. He collaborates with other
students during group work and meaningfully contributes to class discussions. He treats everyone with kindness
and respect while firmly voicing his opinions. David is an incredibly talented and driven student who will
accomplish whatever he sets his mind to.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me if I can be of any further assistance.

Cordially,

James Buescher
Dean of Student Learning
