I would like to apply for a job as a writer in English Comp I. I heard about the job when I signed
up for this class. I know that this position is looked upon highly. I am applying to this job
because I want to improve my writing skills and help get a head start in college. Writing is very
important in college, and this job would help make it easier to compose papers and essays. It is
important to perform well here, as my future living will depend on a degree and school is very
expensive.

I believe I qualify well for this job because I have always preformed well for writing assignments
in school in the past. Many of my English teachers have said this, and my eighth grade English
teacher gave me a Fretz owl award for my skills. I have always enjoyed writing. In sixth grade, I
won second place for the Patriot’s Pen writing competition, and moved on to district level in
fourth place.
