STRUCTURAL PLANING (Basics)
For this module PLANWIN / FRAMEWIN processor is used.

Advantage of using this preprocess is Work directly using Architectural Plan. Plan
structural system and arrive at member sizing.
Nowhere you have to specify.

 Joint Coordinates

 Member Incidence

 Load Generation is direct which covers

 Dead Load

 Live Load

 Wind Load

Seismic Load
STRUCTURAL PLANING (Slabs)

First SLABS (Rooms) are drawn using simple commands. Each slab is drawn relative to
each other like a jigsaw puzzle.

While drawing slab you specify

Thickness of slab (To work out self weight)

Superimposed dead load / Unit Area
Live Load/ Unit Area
Direction of load (one way, two way , or cantilever, or supported on few edges

It is also possible to import center line directly from CAD

drawing.
STRUCTURAL PLANING (Columns)

After marking of slab, COLUMN are marked. Here Auto Judge option is used.
Where by cursor moves to all possible joint.

User just have to click whether column is there or not.

Also it is possible to mark column relative to any joint. Thus column need not be at
corner only, can also be located easily.
STRUCTURAL PLANING (Beams)

After marking of slabs and columns BEAMS are marked.

Marking of beam is fully automatic. software finds out location of beams , Loads
are taken from Wall thickness and floor height

Initially two type of loadings are considered. Internal & External. Later on user can
change any loading.

There is provision for specifying external Points load & Wedge Load also.
LOAD TRANSFER / FLOW (Part 1)

Once the PLAN is made,

software transfers the loads
from slab to secondary beams ,
to main beams and then to
columns.

There are excellent facilities to

verify the results.

By clicking on any column , user

can view the detail about the
loads (from which member it is
coming.)
LOAD TRANSFER / FLOW (Part 2)

By clicking on any beam , user can view which loads are originated from which slab, also
reaction due to secondary beams can be viewed.
LOAD TRANSFER / FLOW (Part 3)
Also software gives total summary of loads.

Total Live load on slab

Total Dead load on slab
Total load due to beam

Load on slab / area

Load on beam / running meter

Acting load
Total reaction on column

Difference in load (if there is any)

This information helps in finding out errors at the

source it self.
Reporting facilities

There are
excellent reporting
facilities are
available , where
by complete
details like loading
diagram can be
viewed / printed
into spread sheet ,
including diagram
as shown in
adjacent figure
FrameWin Converts Levels into 3D Model
Column – Auto Sizing

After 3D Model is made, it is required to give some appropriate size for columns. For
which Auto Size option is available. By Giving Breadth, % of steel and grade software
works out column depth, based on vertical loads. It is also possible for user to give
its own column sizes.
Computing Wind Loads

Wind loads can be specified by selecting the location, or user can specify wind
speed, Risk coefficient etc. Option for specifying parapet wall height is also
available

Forward Integrate To Analysis Software

• FRAMEWIN has the functionality to link to various analysis

software for detailed dynamic analysis of the structure.

• The software automatically creates input files for:

– E-TABS (*.$ET File)
– STAAD PRO (*.STD file)

• The analysis output can then be linked to RCDesignCenter for

design, detailing, drawings and documentation of various
members.
