• All A. baumannii strains have a
chromosomally encoded AmpC beta-
lactamase (not inducible) and OXA-51 and
related enzymes
• OXA-23 is the most common acquired
carbapenemase in A. baumannii

sequence (IS) which leads to
overexpression of the carbapenemase
