Under the supervision of the Transportation Planning Manager, performs a wide variety of
transportation planning tasks necessary to support the day-to-day functions of a busy Regional
Planning Agency transportation planning department.
Requires knowledge of the principles, practices, and methods of transportation planning and
technical support functions, including data collection and detailed analysis specific to
transportation improvement project planning and traffic operations, as well as versatility with
Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
Job duties include collecting and analyzing transportation data; conducting transportation
planning-related studies; managing geo-databases; working with representatives of local, state
and federal agencies; presenting at public meetings; and effectively coordinating and
integrating planning efforts with fellow colleagues and planners from other agencies.
Attendance at some night meetings required.
Ability to speak, read and write the English language and facility with Windows-based software
programs is required. Expertise in ArcGIS and data base management a plus. Ability to
communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with government officials, co-workers, fellow
professionals, and general public is essential. Looking for a hard-working team player
comfortable in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, who is also a capable independent
worker and self-starter, able to take the lead on projects.
Starting Salary
Position may be filled at the Planner-Analyst or lower Planning Technician level depending upon
education and experience; position(s) open until filled. Salary range is $32,500 to $50,000,
depending upon qualifications. SRPEDD offers full employee benefits including health care,
