Learning Goal
Students will be able to take apart numbers in the ones place to make two numbers to add more
efficiently. For example, 15 + 6 =

Measurable Objectives
Students will be assessed at the end of the lesson by giving them a worksheet to work on
independently. The assessment will contain 8-10 problems that are similar to the one above.
Students will successfully be able to break apart the number in the ones place in several ways
and choose the easiest way to add two numbers together in a quick manner. 70 or higher score is
required to pass the assessment, if students score lower they will be pulled aside and we will go
over the steps again with manipulatives if necessary.
