PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION

Founder’s vision:
In 1949, Shri. C. Rajam, gave the newly
independent India-Madras Institute of Technology, so that
MIT could establish the strong technical base it needed to
take its place in the world. It was the rare genius and
daring of its founder that made MIT offer courses like
Aeronautical Engineering, Automobile Engineering,
Electronics Engineering and Instrument Technology for
the first time in our country. Now it also provides
technical education in other engineering fields such as
Rubber and Plastic Technology & Production Technology.
It was merged with Anna University in the year 1978.
Sixty years hence, while it continues to be a pioneer in
courses that it gave birth to, it is already renowned for
producing the crème de la crème of the scientific
community in more nascent courses such as Computer
Science and Information Technology.
MIT has produced great scientists like Dr. A.P.J.
Abdul Kalam, versatile geniuses like Sujatha and many
more. Presently the Vice Chancellor, Registrar of Anna
University are all Alumni of MIT. The broad-based
education, coupled with practice-oriented training in their
speciality, has enabled the students of MIT to handle with
skill and success a wide variety of technical problems.
MIT had received many awards which includes an award
Try not to become a man of success but rather try to
become a man of value. - Albert Einstein
Along with success, comes a reputation for
wisdom–Euripides

for the Best Overall Performance, awarded by Indian

Society of Technical Education (ISTE) during the year
1999.
Madras Institute of Technology shall strive towards
becoming a world class institution by producing
professionals with a high technical knowledge,
professional skills and ethical values. We shall be the
preferred partner to the industry and community for our
contribution towards their economic and social
development by providing high quality manpower through
excellence in teaching, research and consultancy.

ACTIVITIES OF PDA:

Aptitude test & Classes:

PDA in collaboration with Computer Society
conducts Aptitude tests on every Thursday to improve the
ability of the students to think in a different way. After
each exam, answers are put up on the notice boards and
doubts and clarifications are discussed in the Aptitude
classes held on Wednesdays. Aptitude test includes
questions on verbal ability, puzzles, quantitative aptitude,
logical reasoning and general knowledge.
Saturday session:
In a view to develop soft skills of students, PDA has
devised its Saturday Sessions. It is conducted for about
three hours on every Saturday morning. The activities of
the Saturday Sessions include, Snap Discussions,
Vocabulary, Common Mistakes in the English language,

The End of a Prestigious Glory???
This is my call to those who think MIT is nothing more
than a college. Let me make one thing clear to you all “IT IS A
LOT MORE THAN JUST A PASSING PHASE OF YOUR
LIFE”!!!
The mere mention of MIT’s name sends a chill
down the spine of competitors. Know why? From being the 1st
self financed institute of India, to producing undeniably
outstanding citizens such as His Excellency Dr. A. P. J. Abdul
Kalam & the Late Writer Dr. Sujatha Rangarajan, MIT has
been second to none in its achievements.
Name any industry in any part of the world, and
it is with no surprise that in it we will find an MITian working
his way to the top, adding glory to this Nation & the Institute
that raised him. The reason MIT has always outshined is
simple. It is unique beyond the wildest imaginations of any
rational human mind. And the reason we MITians shine bright
is even simpler.
“United we stand. United we seek.
United we strive. United we succeed.”
However, it is with an intriguing mind, that I bring to
your attention that all this seem to be the things of the distant
past. The future is in your hands now. Can MIT’s glory
withstand the test of time? Choose your actions wisely for
they shape this Beautiful Campus & the very future of the
great Indian Sub continent.

The Forgotten Person
Sometimes you’re eating and you don’t like your meal,
You waste it completely without the slightest feel.

And every time you have your daily food,

You don’t give credit to the person you really should.

He is the person, who gifts you food in plenty,

Yet returns home with his pocket almost empty.

Because his major income share goes to the landlords,

And from the rest of the world his family retards.

Though barrels of rice are in his possession ,

Whether his family eats three meals is still a question.

The word laughs at him for he is an uneducated fool,

So he struggles to pay his children for their school.

He has to work under the hot sun or the stinging rain,

And still has to work, when he’s old or in deep pain.

His work is something which you cannot live without,

During times of flood or at times of drought.
The greatest failure is the failure to try.
-Wiilliam Arthur Ward
Nothing can stop the man with the right mental

attitude from achieving his goal;

Nothing on earth can help a man with the wrong

mental attitude. -Thomas Jefferson

21’st century when your life hasn’t got worsen,
He still remains to you as a forgotten person.

As a citizen living in a huge agricultural country,

It is your duty to appreciate the farmer community.

The next time you have breakfast, lunch or dinner,

Thank the farmer; He is the person you should remember.

RAIN PAIN
Here comes the rains of the monsoon,
I just hope they all went soon.

Whenever clouds makes the water to drizzle,

It sends me to a nettled sizzle.

Half way through the night when I hear the terrifying thunder,
I realize my day is going to begin with a blunder.

I take a walk in the highway, hoping to get some sweet summer

sweat,
Returned home in the middle of the night, all soaked and wet.

I hate the rain that I come upon,

But what can I do? Life as to carry on.

But I do like to go for a drive in my bike,

Feels like flying on top of a kite.

I just miss the sun's heat,

It was like a warm treat.

All the small animals and plants go into a deep hibernation,

I'm so jealous because they are in their virtual vacation!!

In summer I could see the sun at dawn,

Now when I wake up I just yawn.

All of a sudden I feel very gloomy

With no one around makes me feel lonely
Weakness of attitude becomes weakness of character
-Albert Einstein
A pessimist sees the difficulty in every oppurtunity;
An optimist sees the oppurtunity in every difficulty.
-Winston Churchill
The winds from the south feel like a cool breeze,
I'm shivering cold close enough to freeze.

My skin becomes so pale and ice cold,

I hope I don't get the common cold.

The frozen throne melts as the year dies,

The curse is broken, let spring arise!!!

INSIDE AN ATOM IS MY
LOVE FOR U

"Love is blind and has no boundaries. It

extends beyond the tangible limit and makes everyone
feel happy."
Love is generally considered a feeling
confined only to the heart. But the magic of love and
affection would be concentrated in each and every somatic
cell. This implies that true love broadened its wings from
a single atom to a complex mechanical system (Humans).
Inside every atom there is a huge voluminous
space/void to be filled by love. Love can't be exposed, but
can be felt. There is no possibility of breaking an
indivisible atom and expressing love. True love in itself
needn't be expressed. Love is one type of exciting sources
that is it can trigger the moving of electrons from lower
energy level to higher energy level.
Niels Bohr would have had love that is why it
triggered him to propose the "Atom Model" based upon
energy levels. Surprising that love could also have a
scientific background.
Human face just provides the expression but
the real process begins only from the atom. It is therefore
evident if the exponent is true love, inside an atom is my
love for u..- my angel..No matter to dispute about the
love's position but rather let us understand ourselves the
beauty of true love and feel from the atomic level itself.
After all every day is a happy day for the loving souls.....

I’M NOT A BLACKSHEEP, AM AN

ENGINEER
I dedicate this article to the young engineers
who paused their heart beats for ENGINEERING. I
couldn’t tolerate when newspaper headlines and
television flash news are occupied by the students’
suicide.
The reasons are enquired but the tears dont get
dry. Oh God..!!! Let their souls rest in peace.
Engineering:
It’s a kid’s aim, a guy’s passion, a parent’s
ambition…. But out of this, it’s most of the students’
tension.
The students are trained to vomit in their school
levels and they are admitted in the engineering
institutions which are found in every street corner of
this country. The interesting issue which is to be noted
upon is that the quality of vomit determines the
quality of the institutes. (I didn’t mean the top
institutions like IIT, NIIT & Anna University but the
rest where the most others graduate.)
The visualization of people looking from outside
about the four years of engineering is in contradiction
with the actual practice.
The students:
 Are instructed to follow the rules and are
terminated when they ask the reason (but the
professor says, “Knowledge develops when reasons
are asked”).

 Number of assignments, mini-projects, assessment

tests, records and observations keep them engaged,
but in many cases they are forced to do and not
desired to.

 When the student’s attitude shouts, the lecturers

shout, “INTERNAL MARKS...!”

 Descriptions are taught and mechanisms are asked.

 They refill their pens but we don’t know whether

they understood the notes, they write.

They are equipped with drafters, calculators and so

on, but unfortunately, a platform to build the attitude,
an arena to explore their extra-curricular activities and
the medicine to remove depression are out of syllabus
in this so called, innovative engineering.
I respect the institutions and professors who
dedicate their life for this noble profession of teaching.
Hats off to them!!!
Let this article make the professors who dedicate
and preach engineering to think from their heart.
