I ate with my family last week. We went to a barbeque restaurant and ate beef. We mostly
talked about work and school. I have been working really hard, so I had a lot to say about my
office. My mother is taking an English class, and she wanted to talk about her teacher. Her
teacher is a foreigner, and she has really enjoyed getting to know him. I think that this makes my
father a little jealous.

I live in a big apartment building near Jam-Shil with my family. My house has three rooms, two
bathrooms and a kitchen. I have a nice view of Lotte World from my room. We have a new TV in
the living room. I really like living in my apartment.

I live in Ban-Po. It is nearby Express Bus terminal. It is very convenient to travel around Korea.
Also, the subway station is very convenient. However, I think it is not good for hanging out with

I don’t know my neighbors well. A lot of senior citizens live near me. I know Mr. Park who lives
next door. His wife died two years ago and his children have their own families. We invite Mr.
Park to dinner sometimes. These days Mr. Park talks about moving in with his son’s family. We
will miss Mr. Park.

town? Buildings, people etc. Tell me about it.
I live in a small town outside of Seoul. There is not much to see really. We have a couple of
parks and some historical sights there. There is an old castle on top of a mountain close to my
house. I like to go there with my family. We also have a new movie theater, but the screens there
are very small. I like the old one better.

I live in Seoul now, but when I was young I lived in a small town near Jin-Ju. It was very
different. I could play outside and spend a lot of time in the mountains near my home. I miss it
now because it was so much cleaner there. Seoul is so busy all the time. My hometown was not
this way. It was a good place to relax and have a family. I wish my family lived in a place like that
today.

My company is called [COMPANY]. I like my job pretty well because I have a good boss who is
very nice to me. I am a programmer, and my company also does interesting work. I am usually
pretty happy at work, and I do not have to do too much overtime. This lets me spend time just
relaxing at home, which is important in a high-stress job like mine.
Useful Expression
do not (don’t) have to 동사 : ~할 필요 없다.

I have a part time job at a shoe store in Gang-Nam. I like people, so I like my job. I work in the
afternoon, after my classes. I started there last year because my friend’s father owns it so he gave
me that job. He lets me work and go to school, so that is very helpful. I am a clerk there, so my
job is helping people find the best shoes for them.
Useful Expression
have a part time job : 아르바이트로 일하다.

To describe how you get to your workplace by explaining the transportation system.
Today’s Question: How do you commute to work? How long does it take?
I take the bus to work. The subway is faster, but I like the bus. It is good to see the sun before
going into my company all day. The bus takes about thirty minutes. If I am late then I take a taxi.
Taxis are fast but they are more expensive.
Useful Expression
I take (교통수단) to work. : 저는 회사에 ~로 다닙니다.

My boss is very tall and big. She doesn’t smile easily. Frankly, the first time I saw her I was
scared. However, she has a soft and kind voice, just like her real personality. She is shy to meet
new people, but my company really needs her.
