Classroom Management and Communication Plan

Parent/Guardian Letter

Dear Parent or Guardian

Welcome to the new school year! I am happy to be your child’s French teacher this year!

A bit about me: I earned my Bachelor’s in French from California State University Fullerton where I also
earned my Teaching Credential. Shortly after I spent 2 years working for LILA, a French-American
immersion school, where I was a Campus Assistant in charge of the after-school tutoring program.

I believe students learn best when they are in a safe and positive learning environment. This classroom
is free of judgements and encourages students to be bold and make mistakes.

Your child should expect to cover a wide range of material as we navigate the basics of the French
language such as vocabulary, grammar structures, geography and culture. We will take a close up look
into the French-speaking world and spend some time covering typical French customs and traditions.
Expect students to have homework 3 to 4 times per week including a big project each semester. Quizzes
will occur weekly and tests will occur once a month.

If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me at

I hope to see you and your family at our Back to School Night on October 16th at 5pm.

 There is a zero tolerance policy when it comes to cheating. Please try your hardest to come up
with original content. Translation sites are there to aid you not to do the work for you. Anyone
caught cheating will be given a zero for that assignment and be disciplined according to school
policy. If you have, any questions or concerns please let me know.

Classroom Expectations

 In this classroom, everyone has the right to learn and participate.

 Show respect towards one another and your teacher.
 Please keep your cell phones in your backpacks with the ringer off. Cellphone use is not allowed
during class unless given permission by your instructor.
 Finish your HW before coming to class. Anyone caught doing his or her HW in class will be
considered as late work.
 Raise your hand to ask questions or answer them. Do not talk over anyone and wait your turn.
 Please do not leave any trash behind, let's keep everything neat!

RESPECT is the most important word in our class. The expectations above are examples of
demonstrating respects towards yourself and others. Students who exhibit respect throughout
the year will be awarded with Pride Tickets, which can be redeemed at the student store for
prizes. On the other hand, students who are continuously showing a lack of respect will be
talked to accordingly and if needed parents will be contacted.

Academic and Classroom Routines and Procedures

 Absences must be excused through the front office with a proper note from a doctor or parents.
 Students are encouraged to show up on time for class as a sign of respect. Students are allowed
a maximum of TWO tardies. After two, students will be marked tardy on the roll call. If an
excessive amount of tardies continue, students will be directed to the principal’s office where
they will be disciplined and if needed parents will be involved.
 Students must turn in HW at the beginning of class otherwise, it will be considered late. Late
work is allowed, however, half a letter grade per late day will be marked down. Students are
encouraged to make up missing work to receive partial credit.
 At the beginning of class, students must copy down the agenda for the day and begin answering
the question of the day in their notebooks. Any in-class work must be turned in at the end of
class before the bell rings.
 Our class layout consists of students placed in groups of 4 to encourage group work during
speaking activities. Once a month students will change seats to encourage interaction with
different classmates.
 Bathroom Policy: Students are encouraged to use the bathroom before they come to class.
However, students are allowed to go to the bathroom 10 times per semester. Students must ask
for permission before going to the bathroom, sign their names out on the bathroom sheet and
take the bathroom pass with them. IF, students exceed their bathroom passes per semester a
one on one meeting will be held and further disciplinary action will be taken if the problem
persists. In case of any medical conditions, please notify me and I will make the proper
accommodations.
 Students are encouraged to ask questions as soon as they have any. Tutoring is available every
Thursday during lunch if students need any additional help with any exercise or assignment. AP
students and I are available during this time.
 A weekly notebook check will be conducted for participation points. In the notebook, students
are expected to have answered the question of the day or the daily warm-up as well as jotting
down new vocabulary and grammar.

Communication Plan

The Classroom Management Plan along with the Parent Letter will be sent out with students on the
first day of school and will require a parent signature. Students must return the signed documents
within a week’s time.
