PROGRAM AND AWARDS

The Puerto Rico Manufacturers Association Industrial Women's Chapter is committed to inspire and empower professional
females with the talent, capabilities and desire to reach their next level.

PRMA Women’s Chapter is working on projects that would enable women to not only increase participation in the labor
force but also support their development to leading roles within business and corporations.

Companies Driven by Women are more competitive as they demonstrate their support of diversity and women. This
supports their capacity to attract more women and provides a competitive advantage to hire the best talent.  In addition, it
is a great branding within their communities as a responsible and inclusive company.

Studies demonstrate that companies lead by women are more productive and competitive.

A 2007 report from the non-profit research organization Catalyst found the Fortune 500
companies with more female board directors attained “significantly higher financial
performance” than those with the lowest female representation. Catalyst took three important
factors into account: return on equity, return on sales and return on invested capital. It found
that in all three areas, the companies that had higher female board representation were doing
better. These companies outperformed those with the least amount of female representation
by 53 percent in terms of return on equity, 42 percent in terms of return on sales and 66
percent in terms of return on invested capital.

Follow the Money

If these 5 reasons aren’t enough, think about this. A 2016 survey of 21,980
publicly traded companies in 91 countries concluded that “the presence of
more female leaders in top positions of corporate management correlates
with increased profitability of those companies” (source). This confirms what
study after study for more than a decade have found–that having increased
female leadership on your team or board leads to increased financial results.
If that doesn’t convince you, what will?

With the objective to promote our members competitiveness and to recognize their commitment to support and promote
women leaders in their workforce, the Puerto Rico Manufacturers Association Industrial Women’s Chapter has established
the Driven by Women Companies Award Program, that will be complemented by a certification program and sharing best
practices. The first awards will be presented at the Second International Women’s Conference to be held on December
12-13, 2019.

We encourage our members to participate in this important recognition program where you can showcase your support to
women leaders and demonstrate your commitment with inclusion. Also, to use this platform to recognize forward thinking
companies that have demonstrated with facts their commitment and support of the woman labor force.

Cordially,
