Upgrading MAMP & MAMP PRO

Read this document before you install MAMP or MAMP PRO.
It includes important information about upgrading both programs.

Warning
Installing MAMP will replace your previous MAMP installation. The entire existing MAMP
folder will be deleted and the data stored within the old MAMP folder will be lost.

There are a few steps to follow

that will make the upgrade unproblematic:
1. Stop all running services.
a. MAMP: Apache and MySQL
b. MAMP PRO: Apache, MySQL, DynamicDNS, and the service starting servers at
system startup.
2. Quit MAMP & MAMP PRO.
3. Back up the important data contained within the MAMP folder like databases, websites
or configuration files. If you are not sure what to back up, you can just rename the
entire MAMP folder, e.g. to MAMP_old.
4. Copy MAMP (& MAMP PRO if wished) from the installation disk image into your
Applications folder.
5. Install the MAMP Widget delivered with the new MAMP installation.
6. Restore your data from backup. Keep your backup files or the renamed old MAMP
folder until you are sure that everything is working. You can also consider to burn your
backup on a CD to be able to restore your data in the future.
7. Launch MAMP or MAMP PRO.
8. Check the configuration.
9. Start the servers.

Back up your data

It is recommended to back up your important data on a regular basis.

Note:!Changed MySQL database path starting version 1.8

! MAMP PRO until version 1.7.2 has used MySQL databases stored at:
! /Library/Application Support/living-e/MAMP PRO/db/mysql

! Starting with the version 1.8 the MySQL databases are stored at:
! /Library/Application Support/appsolute/MAMP PRO/db/mysql

avoid some common problems and frustration.

Bei der Installation von MAMP wird Ihre vorherige MAMP-Installation ersetzt. Der
bisherige MAMP-Ordner wird gelöscht. Dabei gehen alle darin enthaltenen Daten
verloren.

Befolgen Sie folgende Schritte für den Upgrade-Prozess:

1. Stoppen Sie alle laufenden Services.
a. MAMP: Apache und MySQL
b. MAMP PRO: Apache, MySQL, DynamicDNS und den Service zum automatischen
Starten der Server beim Systemstart.
2. Beenden Sie MAMP & MAMP PRO.
3. Sichern Sie alle wichtigen Daten im MAMP-Ordner (Datenbanken, Webseiten,
Konfigurationsdateien, usw.). Wenn Sie sich nicht sicher sind, was Sie sichern
müssen, benenne Sie den MAMP-Ordner in MAMP_alt um.
4. Kopieren Sie MAMP (& MAMP PRO wenn gewünscht) von dem Disk-Image in den
Programme-Ordner.
5. Installieren Sie das MAMP-Widget, welches in der neuen MAMP-Version enthalten ist.
6. Stellen Sie die Daten Ihres Backups wieder her. Löschen Sie die Backupdaten oder
den umbenannten alten MAMP-Ordner nicht, bevor Sie sich nicht sicher sind, dass
alles mit der neuen MAMP-Version läuft. Zur Sicherheit können Sie Ihr Backup auch
auf eine CD brennen, damit Sie es zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt wiederherstellen
können.
7. Starten Sie MAMP oder MAMP PRO.
8. Überprüfen Sie die Konfiguration.
9. Starten Sie die Server.

Backup erstellen
Wir empfehlen Ihnen, alle wichtigen Daten regelmäßig zu sichern.

Hinweis:! Der Pfad zur MySQL-Datenbank wurde mit der Version 1.8
! beim MAMP PRO geändert.

! Die MySQL-Datenbanken befinden sich beim MAMP PRO bis Version 1.7.2
! in folgendem Verzeichnis:
! /Library/Application Support/living-e/MAMP PRO/db/mysql

! Ab Version 1.8 vom MAMP PRO befinden sich die MySQL-Datenbanken

! in folgendem Verzeichnis:
! /Library/Application Support/appsolute/MAMP PRO/db/mysql
