As an alum of Ohio State, you know our hospitals, College of Medicine, faculty and alumni are among
the best in the nation. As the director of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, I am so proud of
the amazing work being done here! I want you to know of the achievements going on at your alma
mater. Here are just a few of the accomplishments made by our division:

 Our Advanced Endoscopy team is highly experienced in diagnosis, evaluation and treatment of
digestive disorders.
 Our Pancreatic Clinic has earned distinguished designation as a National Pancreas Foundation
Center of Excellence for both pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer.
 Our Hepatology Program specializes in fatty liver, transplant and hepatocellular carcinoma and
offers FibroScan® elastography as an alternative to liver biopsy.
 Our newest team member, Anita Afzali, MD, MPH, a pioneer in treating inflammatory bowel
disease, will lead the development of our new multidisciplinary IBD Center.
 Using a recently developed, needle-based endomicroscopy probe, our doctors have discovered
and validated novel patterns to accurately diagnose pancreatic cystic lesions.
