Lara Named Medical Director of Total Pancreatectomy and Islet Cell Transplant

Program

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Comprehensive Transplant Center has
named Luis F. Lara, MD, medical director of the Total Pancreatectomy and Islet Cell Transplant
Program.

Dr. Lara is an associate clinical professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology,


Hepatology and Nutrition. Most recently, Dr. Lara was clinical associate professor at Florida
International University and affiliate assistant professor at Florida Atlantic University, and was
medical director of the Pancreas Clinic at Cleveland Clinic Florida. He also served as the
medical director of the Clinical Center for Pancreatic Disease at the University of Texas
Southwestern Medical Center, and Baylor University Medical Center.

Dr. Lara received his medical degree from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de
Monterrey (ITESM) in Monterrey, Mexico. He completed a residency in internal medicine at
Northeast Ohio Medical University and a fellowship in gastroenterology at Wake Forest
University Baptist Medical Center. He also completed an advanced fellowship in pancreatology
at Mayo Clinic, Rochester.
