Isometric Drawing Compliance Checklist

This checklist is for reviewing isometric drawings and contains 12 sections to check. It includes items like confirming design codes are followed, equipment accessibility, terminal points, piping and instrumentation diagrams, insulation, valves, bills of materials, title blocks, stress analysis, vents and drains. The checklist aims to ensure isometric drawings are accurate and address project requirements before being issued.

Check List For Isometric Drawings Rev 02

Project: Issue Date 18th Oct 2004

Job Number:

Isometric Drawing Number:

SNO Description Designer Checker Remarks

1 Design

Comply with Appropriate codes and standards

Design comply with related design guide requirements

2 Accessibility

Valves within 6'-6" (check with scope book requirement)

of floor if not whether appropriate accessory to valve or
platform has been considered

Instrumentation within 7' of floor

Piping after insulation is outside the walkway access

area.

Basket removal space for strainer available

Piping after insulation is outside the equipment

maintenance access area

3 Field Weld

Field Weld number assigned

Field Weld Location appears in Iso

Field welds location (easy welding/Accessibility)

Field weld added at Terminal point ( in case TP has weld

end type)

Full coupling is provided at Field weld location for small

bore piping where field weld is on straight length.

4 Terminal Point
Terminal Point location, TP number and detail (Welded,
flanges (RF or FF), screw etc) matches with equipment
GA drawing/Scope Book

Equipment with Terminal Point correctly modeled

Terminal Number (Sequence of equipment A or B) and

description is correct.

Provide Union in the piping at all Theaded TPs

5 P&ID Check

Flow Configurations (physicalized)

Line Size and line number & P&ID number

Pipe Class
ID Blasting Block
Critical Piping Block
Vents are drains are marked in the Mechanical P&ID
copy.

6 General
Drawing continuation number is correct and coordinates
are same in both drawings
Pipe Centre line elevation is shown in the drawing (some
drawings don't get elevation automatically)
Flow Arrows is correct
Insulating Flange note added at U/G-A/G stub up
interface point (per requirement only)
Hanger/Supports are marked
Coating/Wrapping Requirement if any for underground
metal pipe is indicated.
Interference Check done and reviewed
Spool Numbers Assigned and logged
Wall and floor penetrations are correctly depicted
Removable spools are provided to facilitate equipment
maintenance/removal
Upstream/downstream straight pipe requirements at
butterfly valves, control valves, Check valve, flow
elements, etc. are satisfied
Slope amount and symbol appears in the Iso

Size of spool (within the spool transportation requirement)

Spool numbers and drawing numbes are as per project

instructions.
Make Sure negative elevation is marked correctly on the
drawing with Symbol (-).
For Underground piping routed up to any enclosed
building, make sure stub-up at A/G interface point is
located inside the building to avoid any additional heat
tracing of pipes/valves/valve boxes on above ground
piping outside the buiding.
Provision for flushing stub is made in the piping as per
P&ID requirement.
If pipe penetrates platform or floor, verify proper opening
requirements are given in the civil drawing. Also proper
penetration symbol is indicated in the isometric drawing.
Verify U/G piping corridor is common for all nearby routed
pipes (Don't have different corridor for different pipes
running parralel to each other)
For underground piping routed up to any enclosed
building, make srure stub-up at A/G interface point is
located inside the building to avoid any additional heat
tracing of pipes/valves/valve boxes on above ground
piping outside the buiding.
For underground plant air piping, verify blow -off
connection are provided at appropriate locations.

7 Insulation

Heat tracing requirement (if any) is indicated

Correct Insulation thickness is shown in the drawing.
If insulation purpose is for PP, mark dimension to the
extent where insulation is required.

8 Valves including Control Valves

End to end dimension/End type

(flanged/Welded/Screwed)
Valve correctly modeled with actuator or other details
Valve orientations
Gear Operator Orientation
Valve Ratings
In case chain pulley/Extension spindle is reuired, specify
the same in T/W.

9 BOM

Valve Ratings
Instrument Tap Fitting Ratings
Pipe fitting ratings
Stockcodes
Pipe Supports

10 Title Block
Spool Numbers (optional, per project requirement)
Iso Number
Revision number
Reason for issue
Correct P&ID Referenced (per project requirement)
Total Length
Field/Shop fabrication is identified
Correct IPE Rule File Used
All notes and References are added in the drawing.

11 Stress Analysis

If stress analysis is complete (for stress anayzed lines)

Slope is positive in in all operating conditions
There is no interference during hot condition
Support matches with Stress isos.
There is no interference during hot condition of nearby
vendor piping (Verify vendor piping thermal growth)

12 Vent and Drains/Instrument taps

All High point drains/Vents are addedd
Instrument taps are shown with correct orientation and
tag number.
Instrument tap sizes are correct
Orifice flange/flow meter has instrument tap orientation
marked-up.
PSV discharge not directed towards any equipment or
commodities or personal access. Also make sure vent
elbow is directed in downward or sideway direction to
avoid water entrance into the pipe.
Ensure Vents and drains are shown on the correctly
indicated on the isometric drawing as per project standard
drawings
