Senator Francis Pangilinan on Monday called for the resignation of University of the

Philippines (UP) Regent Frederick “Spocky” Farolan following his cryptic post and
suggestions against players of Ateneo de Manila University.
Pangilinan said the statement of Farolan against the Blue Eagles were “totally
unacceptable and a disgrace” to the university.

“Having served as a member of the UP Board of Regents twice (first as Student

Regent in 1986 and then as ex officio member being chairman of the Senate
Committee on Education in 2003), I believe Regent Farolan should tender his
resignation as member of the UP Board of Regents immediately,” he said in a
statement.
“His views expressed on social media are totally unacceptable and a disgrace to the
University of the Philippines,” he added.
In a now deleted post, Farolan said that three players of Ateneo would miss Game 2 of
the UAAP Finals due to injury.
“Sayang hindi kumpleto ang players ng Ateneo sa Wednesday. Tatlo injured. Pili na
kung sinu-sino mga yon,” he said, without giving names.
