irst of all I am very grateful to Almighty ALLAH, the most merciful, the

creator of the universe, who enable me to complete my research work. I

offer my sincerest words of thanks to the HOLY PROPHET HAZRAT

MUHAMMAD (S.A.W), who is forever a torch of guidance and knowledge for

humanity.

I am especially grateful to my research supervisor Dr. Nasir khan, Lecturer of Botany

University of Science and Technology, Bannu who encourage, guided and helped me

through their valuable suggestions and moral support in my research work.

I am very thankful to my co-supervisor Dr. Fizan Wazir professor of Botany

University of Science and Technology, Bannu for their valuable guidance and

suggestions.

I am highly obliged to Assist. Professor Dr. Sultan Mahmmod chairman of Botany

I also pay my special thanks to Mr. Tahir Iqbal for plants identification and my friend

Mustafa khan who play a vital role to complete my research work.

Abstract

The research work was initiated to get information and report the diversity of medicinal plants

in the village of Kausar Fatah Khel district Bannu during December 2015. A total of 30 plants

belonging to 21 families were collected. This plants belong to the following families.

Poaceae (3Spp), Fabaceae (1Sp), Solanaceae (2Spp), Rhammacea (3Spp), Moraceae (1Sp),

Lamiacaeae (2Spp), Araceae (1Sp), Astraceae (1Sp), Myrataceae (1Sp), Zygophylaceae

(1Sp), Papilionaceae (1Sp), Chenopodiaceae (2Spp), Rotaceae (1Sp), Brassicaceae (1Sp),

Mimosaceae (3Spp), Liliaceae (1Sp), Asphedeliaceae (1Sp), Caesalpiniaceae (1Sp),

Euphorbiaceae (1Sp), Meliaceae (1Sp), Alliaceae (1Sp).

It was found that the local inhabitant were unaware or had little knowledge about the uses of

medicinal plants and their proper time of collection. Even the younger generation don’t know

about the various medicinal plants but the old people especially women have some knowledge

about the wild resources of medicinal plants. The plants were identified botanically and

scientific names, family names, local names, habit, part used and medicinal uses. It was

reported that wathania somnifera (L) was used in tissue building and nerve break down and

seeds are used stomach pain and digestion. Ziziphus Marutaina (Mill) are used for the

abdominal pain, pregnancy, fever and also used for the asthma, ulcer and eye lotion
