THE EYE DEFECTOR

On October 13, the agency’s intelligence signalled that former agent,

Alfred Sarant, is working on a project that would inevitably cause
mass chaos around the world.

BACKGROUND

Mr. Sarant (Exhibit A), a nuclear scientist and physicist by

education, defected to Iran after the United States reinstated
sanctions on Iran in 2018. Our information suggests that he holds very
strong beliefs against U.S. President Donald Trump. New intelligence
indicates that he is working on a plot to derail the president, the
people who protect him, and the people who elected him.

INTELLIGENCE

Intercepted phone calls confirm that Mr. Sarant’s work is being

commissioned by a new alliance formed between high-ranking officials
from Iran and North Korea.

Furthermore, Mr. Sarant has access to nuclear technology, and he is

competent enough to do significant damage--we are not quite sure how.
Based on the intercepted conversations identify two possible plots:

1. Mr. Sarant is working with the Iranian government and the North
Korean government to establish strong nuclear programmes in both
countries.
2. Mr. Sarant is working on a nuclear-powered laser beam (Exhibit
B), which can be reflected off of the Moon to cause damage to
those looking at the Moon.

Based on the budget restrictions and limited know-how in each country,

the agency determined that the second plot is the most likely, as Mr.

Sarant is capable enough to construct a laser beam with these

abilities.

Although we are not certain as to which properties the laser beam is

planned to include, we do know which types of damage Mr. Sarant wants
to inflict on the eyes of Americans. They include:

1. Myopia, as a primary visual impairment (Exhibit C)

a. Myopia, otherwise known as nearsightedness, happens when an
individual’s eye is misshapen. This impairment can cause
many issues for those who have it. Myopia can make it
difficult to read, play sports, or drive. More seriously,
the visual impairment can affect one’s ability to fly a
plane.
2. Amblyopia, as a secondary visual impairment (Exhibit D)
a. Amblyopia is a lazy eye. If one eye becomes seriously
impaired, then the brain finds ways to stop receiving
images. If not treated, amblyopia can lead to permanent
blindness in one eye.

If the American people were to view the Moon at the moment that Mr.
Sarant directed the laser beam to the Moon, millions of individuals
could lose their vision. Additionally, this could affect members of
the U.S. Armed Forces. It would most certainly cause a disruption,
grounding many pilots.

In the event that Mr. Sarant is successful, the U.S. military would
have to rely on drones for its regular operations, and that is not
feasible. Moreover, this weakness would also give other countries,
North Korea and Iran included, the opportunity to carry out air
strikes on American soil.
