NODAL ARCHITECTURE
• A Nodal System consists of a single Nodal Unit which is capable of interfacing
with multiple RF units and transporting on multiple RF channels
• TDM traffic is dropped/inserted or cross-connected at the site
• IP traffic can be switched or routed between links
• Multiple links over the same path may be used to aggregate Ethernet/IP

LICENSING
• Capacity and Feature licensing provides access to extended CTR functionality
• License is based on the SD card’s serial number
• License is transferred to spare hardware via the SD card
• Licensing is field upgradable

MODULE SUMMARY

1. CTR8540 is a purpose built platform which delivers a broad mix of


services including Microwave Radio, Carrier Ethernet services,
Routing, MPLS, and E1 or T1 TDM transport
2. CTR8540 supports both all indoor and split mount architecture
3. The CTR 8540 chassis has 8 Electrical Gigabit Ethernet ports, 4 SFP
slots, interfaces for 16 E1 or T1 tributaries, and 4 expansion slots
4. CTR8540 plug in modules include a backup power supply and cards to
interface to Aviat ODUs, ODRs, and IRU600
5. CTR8540 uses capacity and feature licensing to extend functionality
