Backyard Cricket
EVENT DESCRIPTION:

A cricket game which will be played in an arena completely enclosed by tight netting, a few
metres from each side and end of the pitch. The pitch will be of same length as of normal
cricket. The match will be played over 10 overs with a tennis ball. Teams will have to bring
their own bats. It will be a knockout tournament.

TECHNICAL:

Some programming keywords/lexemes will be glued on the fences like

‘#include<stdio.h>’,’printf(“Virat”)’,’for(cricket=0;cricket<=5;cricket++)’,’return result’,etc
and when the ball will hit those lexemes 2 bonus runs will be given to the batting side.
Traditionally toss is decided by flipping a coin but here a C output question will be given, the
team to solve first will win the toss.

TEAM SIZE-8(6 players will be on the field and 2 will be a substitute)

RULES:

Backyard Cricket will have the same rules as the normal cricket except:

 Bowlers can bowl maximum of 2 overs

 Batsman will be given out if the ball goes out of the arena
 The batsman will get runs by hitting the ball and running, hitting to different zones of
the court(4 & 6 runs possible)
 Bowler bowling a wide or a no ball will cost 2 runs
 No LBW dismissal will be there
 Overthrow will be there
 In case of a draw the match result will be decided by bowl out

SCORING:

Scoring in backyard cricket is split into 2 areas: physical runs and bonus runs. Physical runs
will be scored by both batsmen completing from one crease to the other. Bonus runs will be
scored when the ball hits a net. Bonus scores for particular parts of the nets follow:

ZONE A (Back net-behind the bowler)-

On the bounce 4 runs

On the full 6 runs

ZONE B (Front net-behind the keeper)-

No runs

ZONE C (side nets between the striker’s end and halfway down the pitch)-

On the bounce no run

On the full 2 runs

ZONE D (side nets between halfway and the bowler’s end)-

On the bounce 4 runs

On the full 6 runs

RESULT:

The team with higher score at the conclusion of each innings will be declared the winner of
the match.

QUESTION TOGETHER , BUT THE TWIST IS THAT THE MONITOR WILL
REMAIN SWITCH OFF AND THEY HAVE TO WRITE THE CODE .
 THEY WILL GET ONLY ONE MINUTE AFTER SOLVING EACH QUESTION TO
SWITCH ON THE MONITOR TO VERIFY THEIR CODE .

ROUND 2:
  QUALIFIED TEAMS WILL MOVE TO THIS ROUND .
 ONE PARTICIPANT WILL BE IN ONE ROOM OTHER ONE WILL BE IN OTHER
ROOM .
 PERSON A WILL START CODING IN ONE ROOM AND PERSON B WILL
START CODING IN ANOTHER ROOM . WE WILL HAVE A TIME LIMIT .
AFTER CERTAIN TIME BOTH THE PARTICIPANT WILL SWITCH THEIR
PLACES AND WILL CONTINUE THEIR CODING FROM WHERE THE OTHER
ONE LEFT .

RULES AND REGULATIONS:

Each participants should register individually after which they would be sorted into
groups in round 2

Three Rounds :

Round 1 (The hunt ): 30 Minutes

Pass the mental challenge of decoding the correct option from the set of 20 questions .

Top scorers will move on to the next round .

Round 2 (reach the bug ) : 60 Minutes

Any external help (use of electronic equipments ) is strictly prohibited

Get into a random team of 3(randomly decided by the coordinators).Here initially each
team get a puzzle to solve which leads their way to their respective locations where each
team will get a code that needs to be debugged which paves the way for the final
challenge to come .

Round 3 (Get the heart of the bug) : 60 minutes

Here the teams go through a pressure test .One person from each team would sit at the
system and try to decode the code conveyed by his teammates who moves from one
place to another searching the territory for clues leading to the next location . The teams
to reach the last checkpoint would be crowned .

3.All ideas/codes must be original and developed specifically for the event.

4.Please get your own laptops, mobile phones and any other devices with the necessary
software. While a Wi-Fi connection would be provided, no tech support for connecting your

 Wordsworth round
 We display a big word on the board. Participants have 30 seconds to write as many
small words from that big word in those 30 seconds.

For Example- We will give “FOX” word to the participants and they will write
answers like “OF” and “OX”.

 Jumble round

We will give some jumbled words. The participants have to re arrange that word. The
word will be from technical area.

For ex: - vaja -> java.

 Quiz round

We will conduct a quiz round after Wordsworth round and Jumble round.

Quiz is based on the basics of programming.

Each round of quiz consist 5 questions.

We have 5 rounds of quiz as well.

Gods Among Us is a fighting video game based upon the fictional universe of DC
Comics(sorry Marvel fanboys). The game is set in a 2.5D environment, while character
models and backgrounds are rendered in three-dimensional graphics, the characters are
restricted to fight within a two-dimensional space.

GAME PLAY :

Game Settings:

Match Procedure:
The following steps outline the process of playing a Match.

complete model or a prototype depicting their idea. Best shall go through two panels of
judges involving one student panel and one external faculty panel. Best two teams shall be
