neoplasms.

Infective endocarditis is an infection of the


inner surface of the heart, usually the valves.
The clot (platelet & fibrin deposit) formed at
the damaged valves attracts bacteria forming
vegetations.
Due to the absence of blood supply to the
valves, vegetation is left intact
Septic Infected by bacteria.
Septic emboli Often: extrapulmonary location E.g.
intravenous site.
A lot – turn into lobar or bronchopneumonia
Combine with coagulant, break off, enter
circulatory system, clot.
