This method statement will cover dismantling existing light-post and it’s accessories before
excavation and laying proposed pipeline and reinstalling the same after completing proposed pipeline
installation.

The latest revision of the Project Specification mentioned below shall be used as reference
and is part of this Method Statement for the execution of work.
Civil Superintendent
The Civil Superintendent shall be responsible for the over-all direction, monitoring
coordination and control of all the construction activities attached and related to the
demolition and excavation.
QA/QC Inspector
The QA/QC Inspector shall be responsible for the necessary inspections and tests to be
carried out for all the activities involved in the demolition and excavation.
Site Supervisor
The Site Supervisor shall be directly involved in the planning and execution of the activities
involved in the demolition and excavation. He shall be responsible for the preparation of plan
for demolition and excavation. Safety Action Plan and job safety analysis (JSA). Submit safe
work plan application for work permits if required prior to commence of any excavation. He
should raise Request for Inspection (RFI’s) to in house Q/C dept. at appropriate stages of the
work
Foreman
The Foreman shall be responsible for the direct execution of works involved in the
demolition of post and required excavation, according to the plan and shall directly control
and give instructions to the working personnel. He shall also ensure that works are performed

with proper tools/equipment, PPE and good housekeeping around the working area. Foreman
shall conduct a pre shift safety task assignment (STA) with his crew to ensure all safe work
practices are understood / followed, and any unsafe conditions are addressed well in advance.
Electrical Technician
Electrical Technician will disconnect the power from main distribution board before starting
the demolition of the post. He should ensure no live wire near the demolition spot which may
be potential hazard during demolition.
After reinstallation Electrical Technician will reconnect the power from main distribution
board to light Post and assure it’s functionality.
4.1.1 The following lists typical tools that will be used by the field workers for
concreting.
Hand Tools
Hand power tools and Electrical tools
Mobile crane
Trailer
Forklift
PPE
5. WORK PROCEDURE
5.1.1 Clear the site and remove all obstacles to work safely and comfortably.
5.1.2 Ensure Power from the main board has been disconnected/Off and cable
rearrangement and removal followed.
5.2.1 Un-bolt the Light post after hold by sling wire with crane from base plate and
then light post shall be lifted up safely.
5.2.3 The foundation shall be removed, if the foundation lean is not reach bottom of
excavation level or shoring method shall be followed as
5.3 Re-install
5.3.1 After completed the backfilling the light post shall be done installation and
alignment work then release to the electrical work.
5.3.2 Shall recover with cable protection block after laying cable as per project
requirements.
5.4.1 Gas test shall be done before the entry to the excavation.
5.4.2 Entry/exist log sheet, emergency contact numbers, communication media (like
whistle, air horn, etc. must be available throughout the work activity.
5.4.4 Basket stretches tripod, hand tools full body hardness, personal fall arrest system
and SCBA (if required).
6. INSPECTION
The QC Inspectors of and the company Representative shall carry out the necessary
inspections as agreed
7.1.1 Safety Supervisors shall carry out safety site inspection to ensure safety
requirements laid out in the safe work plan are following during and after
demolition and reinstallation work. Safety Manager / Supervisor shall review
Safety action plan, secure work permit if necessary prior to start of any activities
and ensure JSA is being followed strictly.
