CRT-14
instantaneously start rotation and circulation
through the casing string, the CRT 14 reduces
the probability of stuck casing. The tool also
has the ability to push casing into the well
with 40,000 lbs force allowing for stripping-in
during underbalanced drilling operations.
The design eliminates the power casing tong
operation near well center in addition to a
person at the stabbing board, maintains
proper alignment during stabbing and make-
up of casing, adds the ability for soft stabbing
and thread compensation while minimizing
casing thread damage.
Purposely designed, the fill-up tool allows for
fast change-out of seal and guide elements
when running mixed strings. The seals on the
fill-up tool prevent spillage of expensive
drilling fluids reducing the chance of
environmental incidents.
Features include: use of standard SL, FMS
slips and bottom guides, standard 132/144/
180 inch links, air-cushioned weight
compensator, torque/turn controls and
logging for premium casing connections are
included.

Slip Type Elevators “Y” Series

Elevators
Varco BJ “Y” series elevators are conventional

slip type elevators for handling tubing and
small casing. There are 7 types ranging from
20 to 200 ton capacity and covering pipe sizes
from 1.050” to 7 5/8” OD. They feature a four
slip design which give an optimum contact on
the pipe to prevent bottlenecking and gauge
damage.
The Varco BJ “YC” type elevator is capable of
handling dual tubing strings. All type “Y”
series elevators operate with the latch lock
combination for safety. The “MYC” and “YC”
provide a 7” and the “HYC” a 10 1/2” of insert
contact to grip your casing or tubing. MGG Elevator

18º Type Elevator BNC Model Auxiliary Elevators SJL and SPL
The BNC has a center latch elevator for Single-joint, center-latch elevator designed to
handling 18º external upset drill pipe and replace unsafe rope slings for hoisting collar-

latch from accidental opening. Both latches
operate from a single handle, and then
automatically relatch when the elevator
door is closed. The Type SX side-door
elevator, designed for handling large,
collar-type casing, is a sturdier, safety-
latch-equipped version of X-series
elevators.

CU, CUL & CB Casing Bushings
Description
CU, CUL and CB Casing Bushings are inserted

directly into the rotary table and insure that
the casing being run is perfectly aligned with
the center of the hole. Models CU and CUL are
solid bushings and Model CB is a split
bushing. All of the bushings accept bowls of
different sizes to accommodate a wide range
of casing. Using CMS-XL or CP-S slips, since
these bushings fit into the rotary table, the
casing string can be easily rotated during
cementing operations.

operations.

handle any casing job.
Varco CMS-XL slips are manufactured from
drop forgings, reinforced to take severe
service. The self-centering full wraparound
grip prevents damage to casing. With
certain simple adjustments, the CMS-XL
CMX-XL SLip
can accommodate casing from 6 5/8” to 30”
OD.
DCS Drill Collar Slips
All Varco BJ slips have an API taper of
4” /ft on the diameter. Description
Each slip segments is a rugged drop forging
with an extra long back to provide maximum
support to the circular button gripping

PS-15 & PS-16 Power Slips

Power Slips
Description
Varco Power Slips are designed to eliminate
the manual lifting and setting of slips. The PS-
15 uses coil springs as a counterbalance to
offset the weight of the slips when in upper,
released position. Slips are set by standing on
the slipset ring. The foot pedal is pressed to
release the slips. The PS-16 is an air operated
power slip controlled with a foot valve. The
slips are set by gravity and released with air
pressure much like Varco BJ’s casing elevator/
spiders.
PS-15 and PS-16 Power Slip Features: PS 15 Spring Slip
■ Fits directly into Varco pin drive master

bushings.
■ Fits 27 ½ and 37 ½ to 49 ½ rotary tables
using adapter rings
■ Accommodates 3 ½ to 6 5/8 OD Drill pipe
