Headline: Back Home Again in Indiana with the Indiana University Singing Hoosiers

Under the direction of Dr. Chris Albanese, the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music is
proud to present the Singing Hoosiers on (day of the week), (month) (day) at (time) in the
(location of the concert). Take part in the tradition as the Grammy-nominated Singing Hoosiers
take you out of your seats and into the heart of Indiana.

The Singing Hoosiers are driven by the passion and love of 81 student singers and
instrumentalists from Indiana University with degrees in music, business, media, biology, and
more. Their smiles and infectious compassion for one another beams from the stage and into the
hearts of audiences in 18 states and 26 countries worldwide.

“It is apparent from the moment that a Singing Hoosier walks into the rehearsal room that there
is a special and contagious energy, a joy that radiates as the result of our being together in a
creative space,” Albanese says.

The Singing Hoosiers bring to the stage the pride of being a Hoosier carrying on the musical
legacies of Hoagy Carmichael, Cole Porter and the Great American Songbook. On top of being
Indiana University’s “Ambassadors of Song,” the Singing Hoosiers are ambassadors for the
American story with repertoire ranging from jazz to Broadway and contemporary choral to the
hits of today. The Singing Hoosiers also collaborate with notable guest artists including Sylvia
McNair, Tim Noble, the Indianapolis Symphony and the Cincinnati Pops under the direction of
Erich Kunzel.

“My hope is that audience members are left with an understanding, that all music, regardless of
genre, can impact, empower and influence individuals beyond words,” Matthew Creek, student
manager, said.
Celebrating their 69th year, the Singing Hoosiers encourage audiences to remember the feeling of
being Back Home Again in Indiana as they listen to the sounds of sycamores and buttermilk
skies.
