PROMOTION OF ECO FRIENDLY TRANSPORT SYSTEM

BICYCLE FOR GENTS BICYCLE FOR LADIES

 Chennai Metro Rail Ltd (CMRL) has decided to promote cycling at Chennai Metro Rail
(CMRL) stations for Metro rail passengers.
 Bicycles shall be given to passenger for the local transportation to encourage eco friendly
transport.
 The bicycle shall be hired free of charge by the passenger.
 Preference shall be given to regular commuters using Trip/ Smart card.
CONDITIONS FOR HIRING*:
1. Refundable security deposit: Refundable security deposit of Rs.3000/- has to be paid by
passenger through card (Credit/Debit) / Cash. Paper Pass (Cycle PASS) will be issued to
passenger by Station Controller.
2. ID Proof: The passenger shall submit ID proof. The ID proof shall be Aadhaar card /
Ration card / Election Card / Driving License / Photo identity card issued by state /
central / education institution / Pan card.
3. Timing: The bicycle shall be given to the passengers for a period of Maximum 24hrs at a
time
4. Penalty:
(i) If bicycle is not returned by the passengers within 24hrs then an amount of Rs.50/-
per day will be levied for subsequent days.
(ii) In case of Lost / theft of bicycle, the passenger will have to pay an amount of
Rs.5000/-. By adjusting the deposit (Rs.3000/-), the balance amount Rs.2000/- should
be pay.
5. Returning of Bicycle :
(i) CMRL is not responsible for any accident /injury / breakdown of the cycle.
(ii) Bicycle to be returned in proper condition has taken over by the passenger. The rider
is responsible for any damage or loss to the bicycle and necessary charges will be
recovered from the rider.
6. Refund of Deposit :
When the passenger does not want to avail the bicycle service further, shall inform the
parking security and request for refund of security deposit. Station controller shall
refund the security deposit.
