The Hidden Wealth

In the rural barrio of Samar, there lived a kind-hearted farmer. He had several sons who were not able to
go to college because of poverty. When the farmer was dying, he called his sons to him and said, “Boys, I am
about to leave you. I have hidden my wealth in the farm. Search for it. It is all I have to give you”. His sons
thought that their father buried treasure in their farm. When the father was dead, they dug in the farm, looking
for their treasure, until they had dug everywhere. They didn’t find hidden money, but they had cultivated the
soil so well and that they had produced the fine crop of palay and corn year after year. Truly, there is a wealth in
farming if only it will be coupled with hard work and perseverance.
