AFM® 34 – far better than required by German «TA Luft»

even after a 2,000-hour exposure to air at 200 °C

The reliable gasket material AFM® 34 from VICTOR

REINZ is more than 1,000 times better as specified
by Germany's «Technical Directive on Clean Air» (TA
Luft) – even under tightened conditions and compared
to those specified by VDI-guidline 2200. The gasket
is built into a DN 40/PN 40 flanged joint with 30 MPa
-8
and reaches a sealability of 8.6.10 mbar.l / (s.m)
after a 2,000-hour exposure to air at 200 °C and
a succesive cooling. The standard requirement is a
-4
sealability (leakage rate) of less than 10 mbar.l /
(s.m) measured with a helium mass spectrometer.
AFM® 34 is the perfect material for critical media
according to section 5.2.6 of the TA Luft, with an
enormous safety reserve.

The «Technical Directive on Clean Air» (TA Luft) is an

administrative guideline of the German «Federal
Immission Control Act» (Bundesimmissionsschutz-
gesetz) concerning the installation and operation of
plants, with the aim of protecting the general public
from harmful environmental effects caused by air
pollution, immissions, and emissions. No other com-
parable sealing material offers this degree of safety.
So avoid all risks by simply deciding to «install and
forget» and specify AFM® 34 right from the start.

The measurement proves: AFM® 34 exhibits an extraordinarily high level of safety with a minimal leakage rate of
8.6.10-8 mbar.l / (s.m) (blue bar).
The TA Luft (green bar) specifies a leakage rate of less than 10-4 mbar.l / (s.m).
