1. Know what you’re talking about

a. Read info about the person online

b. Master presentation

c. Practice speech

d. Become comfortable with difficult parts

e. Icebreaker speech-talk about what you know best

2. Know your audience and your space

a. High tech language with professors but not to school children

b. Check out the location before you present

i. Too big/small

ii. Outdoors/indoors

3. Never apologize

a. Audiences don’t notice minor mistakes so just keep going

b. Go toward important parts and away from the small stuff

4. Imagine yourself giving a great speech

a. See yourself giving valid points with body gestures and emotionally

connect with audience.


5. Focus on the message, not yourself

a. Don’t focus on your shaky voice or how nervous you are

b. Focus on ways to make audience more interested and find a way to

influence them.
