Reusable Grocery Bag

Material
Fabric: ½ yard (18 inches) x 1 yard (36 inches)
Twill tape: 2 strands, 1 yard (36 inches) each

Directions
1. Cut fabric
2. Press top of bag back ¼ inch, fold again ¼ inch and press
3. Pin seam down
4. Straight stitch down the bottom of the seam
5. Tuck the raw edge of the twill tape 1 inch under the strap
6. Pin the twill tape on 5.5 inches from the edge, 10 inches down
7. Sew twill tape to fabric, 1/8 inch away from the edge, going
around in a rectangle. Add a few extra rows at the top of the
twill to reinforce the twill to the bag

French Seams
8. Pin bag together, right-sides out.
9. Use a zig-zag stitch and close the sides of the bag going as
close to the edge or sewing right off the raw edge. This will
keep the canvas from fraying
10. Press the seams, Turn the bag inside-out, poking out corners and seams. Press
again.
11. Use a straight stitch and sew bag seams again, this time with the bag inside-out.
Ensure that the zig-zag stitch is picked up.

Bottom Gusset
12. Flatten out the corners, making sure the top seam is
aligned with the bottom press mark.
13. Mark a 6-inch line with a pencil or chalk
14. Pin right on top of the line. Zig-zag stitch on this line.
Inverse bag.
