Raindance Film Festival – 17th May 2019

UAL Deadline – 10th May 2019

Raindance:

Raindance Film Festival is a British based Film festival that’s has run for 27 years. It
awards filmmakers for several different categories such as: Best Short, Best Feature,
Best International Short/Feature, and Best Documentary. Not only that but Raindance
has awarded and publicised some of the best shorts in the last 2 decades. They have
sprouted the career of many famous filmmakers such as Christopher Nolan and Steve
Buscemi. This festival is a huge stepping stone for up and coming filmmakers and is a
great platform for these young filmmakers to show their work and get their name put
out into the industry. There are several deadlines for Raindance Film Festival, with
prices increasing for later deadlines. The early deadline for this festival is the 26TH of
April, costing £25. Then with the normal deadline is on the 17TH of May, which costs £35
for short films. With the UAL deadline being on the 10TH May, it means that the normal
deadline for Raindance is when we will submit our film

Rules and Regulations:

UAL and Raindance both have rules and regulation that I and my peer must follow,
to allow them to be accepted. Raindance do not have any noticeable rules on the
contents of the productions itself, due to it getting an automatic 18 age rating by
the Westminster Council due to all attendants of the festival must be 18 and over.
Not only this but the final deadline for all films to be submitted by the 31ST May, and
earlier deadlines are advised but does not guarantee acceptance into the festival.
To be eligible for submission as well the film must have started production after
January 2018 to qualify for the 2019 festival. Lastly all films can only be submitted via
online screener, and subsequent cuts or more polished version of a submitted film
will not be accepted.
With the rules and regulations for UAL, their rules are more
do with the contents of the films so this something that me and my partner will have
to discuss to make sure that we do not break the rules and regulation of Raindance
and UAL. The main rules

that must be followed are as follows: ‘There will be no references to drugs, no

swearing and no nudity within your productions’. They carry on to say that all work
must be our own including footage and written work, with Harvard referencing used
accordingly. Lastly ‘The work must follow the brief created at the beginning of your
Final Project.’
