Games and The Effects on Interpretation.” Paper will be presented at the Popular Culture Association (PCA),
Washington, DC. (Invited).
 Conducting extensive interdisciplinary research in the fields of narrative and game studies
 Theorizing about links between readerly dynamics, choice mechanics, and literary ethics in interactive literatures
 Managing time effectively to write the 40-page undergraduate thesis that will be completed by May of 2019
 Producing a presentation alongside a panel of graduate presenters that will fit the group’s theme of literary ethics
in video games and board games

Mark Frantz (2018, March). “Focus Toys in the Writing Center.” Paper presented at the East Central Writing
Center Association (ECWCA), Columbus, OH.
 Observed anxious/unfocused clients in the writing center space
 Proposed the use of focus toys for clients and consultants to alleviate stress and cultivate focus
 Developed methods on how and when to implement toys in sessions
 Presented with example toys given to the audience which led to discussions about the application of focus tools

 Tutor clients on writing strategies for a wide variety of genres in a one-on-one session setting using directive and
indirective methods tailored to the needs of the client as a developing writer
 Adopt new strategies from colleagues and meetings that help to constantly develop my skills as a tutor and writer
 Contribute to a collaborative research community in the field of writing center studies
 Conduct classroom visits and first year student seminars to explain our services, spread awareness for the writing
center, and personally engage with potential clients
