3D Model Project Evaluation Rubric

The 3D model rubric evaluates students on content covered in their model, the composition and materials used, labeling of components, realism of appearance, and a one-page summary. Models are scored on a scale from excellent to lacking based on thoroughly covering learning goals, using a variety of 3D materials, labeling at least 20 vocabulary terms, realistic depiction of shapes and colors, and a summary explaining the model and what was learned.

Content
The content of the model thoroughly
covers one learning goal or touches on
all five.

Composition
The entire model is 3-dimensional (not
flat) and made from a variety of
materials. For sanitary reasons, models
cannot be made out of food. The model
is constructed solely by the student and
is not a pre-made kit or other structure.

Labeling
All components of the model are
labeled either directly on the model or
on a diagram of the model. Labels must
include at least 20 vocabulary terms
that are relevant to the learning goal(s).
Labels are written neatly or typed.

Realism
All components of the model are
realistic in their appearance as much as
possible with regard to shape, color,
etc..

Summary
The summary is typed and contains an
explanation of why you chose this
project. It states the learning goal(s)
covered and information about that
learning goal. The model is described
and the functions of its various parts are
explained. It describes where you got
the information for your model and
what specific things you think you will
remember from making this model.
The summary is one-page in length.
