Lesson 1 - Christ’s Mission to the World and the Role of the Youth Ministry
Jesus explicitly stated His mission of coming into the world, not to destroy the world but to save the world.
He said, “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19: 10). However, He will
continually accomplish this through Christians especially through the young people. Jesus’ pressing challenge is that
the harvest is plentiful, but there is a great need of more laborers which He can use in bringing souls into His Kingdom.
The Youth Ministry plays a vital role in participating in this great endeavor.

Lesson 2 - Keeping the Fire Burning

The youth of Christ are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, young people for God’s own
possession, so that they may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called them to manifest the Presence of God,
to take the light of His fire into this sin-darkened world. In the Old Testament, Aaron and his sons were mandated to
keep the fire burning continually on the altar of sacrifice. As young believers today, we carry that mandate to keep
the FIRE burning in the altar of our hearts, to faithfully bring the Presence of God in the lives of others and the next
generation as well.

Lesson 3 - Devotion to the Word and Sacrament

“Through Word and Sacrament, we are drawn by grace into a transforming union with the Lord Jesus, and
having been justified by faith we are called to sanctification and equipped by the Holy Spirit for the good works of
the new creation. We must, therefore, learn to live as faithful disciples and to reject whatever is contrary to the Gospel,
which is the Good News of the Father’s mercy and love revealed in the life, death, and Resurrection of Jesus
Christ.”(The Eight Principles of Evangelical Catholicism – No. 4; https://www.evangelicalcatholicism.com/
evangelical-catholicism/)

Lesson 4 - Evangelism and Discipleship

“All baptized are sent in the Great Commission to be witnesses of Christ to others and must be equipped by
the Church to teach the Gospel in word and deed. An essential dimension of true discipleship is the willingness to
invite others to follow the Lord Jesus and the readiness to explain his Gospel.” (The Eight Principles of Evangelical
Catholicism – No. 8; https://www.evangelicalcatholicism.com/evangelical-catholicism/)

Lesson 5 - Continuing the Work of the Kingdom

“As Jesus laboured to shape a community that would embody the life of the kingdom and continue his
mission, so we are called to use our gifts to build up a community that will faithfully continue the life of the kingdom.
‘As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.’…The Spirit thrusts God‘s people into worldwide mission. He impels
young and old, men and women, to go next door and far away, into science and art, media and marketplace with the
good news of God‘s grace.” (missionworldview.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/Continuing-Jesus-Mission-
