Re: Alisha Wong
It is with great pleasure that I write to you to recommend Alisha for BC Hockey
Association Scholarship. Over the past 4 years I have come to know Alisha and my experience
of her has led me to feel that she is an excellent candidate for your award.
Asa student at Churchill, Alisha has been an outstanding citizen. She achieved Honour
Role in her first three years and has just achieved Principal List for 2™ term in her grade 12 year.
She has volunteered innumerable hours to the PE department, as part of their Leadership
program, keeping score, organizing uniforms, setting up equipment, and helping support students
in PE classes. She has been a huge contributor to both our varsity hockey and softball teams over
the past 5 years.
This year Churchill's Girls Hockey team won the city championship. I can’t see this
happening without Alisha. She is a very skilled player with excellent defensive timing. She also
brings a very positive attitude to every game and practice. The team is composed of players like
Alisha, who have years of hockey experience, and pure beginners, just taking up the sport.
Alisha is always conscious to be positive and encouraging with these players. Although she
could take over most games, she never does. She always works within the system, and shares the
puck. She understands the type of league she is in and adjusts her contribution so as to ensure
that all players get the puck. She understands that they won't get better unless they are involved
and included.
Alisha was also a member Churchill’s Coed hockey team, one of only two girls on the
team, Here she was steady, calming influence at the backend and help take the team to the final
game again, this time just falling short.
I think extremely highly of Alisha, I have known her for 4 years and I can’t recall her
saying negative word about one of her peers. To my knowledge, she is universally liked by her
peers and teachers. I feel that she is a very worthy candidate for this award and I encourage you
to consider her application seriously. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any
