Hosea Chapter 10 ���

� ‫הֹו‬
;‫ּלֹו‬-‫ �� �רי �י�ׁש�ּוה‬,‫א ���פן ּבֹו�קק �י���ר�אל‬ 1 Israel was a luxuriant vine, which
put forth fruit freely: as his fruit
‫��טֹוב‬--‫ �ה �ר�ּבה �ל�ּמ���ּבחֹות‬,‫���רב �ל�פ �ריֹו‬ increased, he increased his altars; the
.‫ �הי�טיבּו �מ��בֹות‬,‫�ל�א �רצֹו‬ more goodly his land was, the more
goodly were his pillars.

‫ ����ה �י�א�ׁשמּו; הּוא‬,‫ב �ח�לק �ל�ּבם‬ 2 Their heart is divided; now shall they
bear their guilt; He will break down
.‫ �י�ׁש�דד �מ��בֹו�תם‬,‫�י���רף �מ���ּבחֹו�תם‬ their altars, He will spoil their pillars.

‫ ��י‬:‫ �אין �מ�לְך �לנּו‬,‫ג ��י ����ה י �א�מרּו‬ 3 Surely now shall they say: 'We have
no king; for we feared not the LORD;
-‫ �ו�ה�ּמ�לְך �מה‬,‫ �יה�וה‬-‫ל �א �י�ראנּו �את‬ and the king, what can he do for us?'
.‫�ּלנּו‬-‫������ה‬
‫ �אלֹות �ׁש �וא ���רת‬,‫ד ���ּברּו �ד�ב �רים‬ 4 They speak words, they swear
falsely, they make covenants; thus
‫ ��ל‬,‫�ּב �רית; ּו�פ�רח ��ר �אׁש �מ�ׁש��ט‬ judgment springeth up as hemlock in
.‫���ל�מי ���די‬ the furrows of the field.

‫ �יגּורּו �ׁש��ן‬,‫ה �ל���גלֹות �ּבית �א�ון‬ 5 The inhabitants of Samaria shall be

in dread for the calves of Beth-aven;
‫ ּו���מ�ריו‬,‫�א�בל ���ליו ��ּמֹו‬-‫ ��י‬:‫�ׁש�מרֹון‬ for the people thereof shall mourn over
‫�ג�לה‬-‫ ��י‬,‫��בֹודֹו‬-‫��ל‬--‫���ליו �י�גילּו‬ it, and the priests thereof shall tremble
.‫�מ�ּמּנּו‬ for it, for its glory, because it is
departed from it.

‫ �מ �נ�חה‬,‫אֹותֹו �ל�אּׁשּור יּו�בל‬-‫ו ��ם‬ 6 It also shall be carried unto Assyria,

for a present to King Contentious;
,‫�ל�מ�לְך �י�רב; �ּב�ׁש�נה �א�פ�ר �ים �י��ח‬ Ephraim shall receive shame, and
.‫�ו�יבֹוׁש �י���ר�אל �מ���צתֹו‬ Israel shall be ashamed of his own
counsel.

-‫ ��ל‬,‫ ���ק�צף‬,‫ �מ�ל��ּה‬,‫ז �נ�ד�מה �ׁש�מרֹון‬ 7 As for Samaria, her king is cut off, as
foam upon the water.

‫ �ח��את‬,‫ח �ו �נ�ׁש�מדּו �ּבמֹות �א�ון‬ 8 The high places also of Aven shall
be destroyed, even the sin of Israel.
-‫ �י���לה ��ל‬,‫קֹוץ �ו�ד �ר��ר‬--‫�י���ר�אל‬ The thorn and the thistle shall come up
,‫�מ���ּבחֹו�תם; �ו�א�מרּו �ל�ה �רים ��ּסּונּו‬ on their altars; and they shall say to the
}‫ {פ‬.‫�ו�ל���בעֹות �נ�פלּו ���לינּו‬ mountains: 'Cover us', and to the hills:
'Fall on us.' {P}

;‫ �י���ר�אל‬,‫ �ח�טא�ת‬,‫ �ה���ב��ה‬,‫ט �מי�מי‬ 9 From the days of Gibeah thou hast
sinned, O Israel; there they stood; no
‫�ת��י�גם �ּב���ב��ה‬-‫ ל �א‬,‫�ׁשם ���מדּו‬ battle was to overtake them in Gibeah,
.‫�ּב�ני ���ל�וה‬-‫�מ�ל�ח�מה ��ל‬ nor the children of arrogancy.

‫ �ו�א�ּס�רם; �ו�א�ּספּו ���לי�הם‬,‫י �ּב�א�ּו�תי‬ 10 When it is My desire, I will chastise

them; and the peoples shall be
‫ �ּב�א���רם �ל�ׁש��י עינתם‬,‫���ּמים‬ gathered against them, when they are
.)‫(עֹונֹו�תם‬ yoked to their two rings.

‫ �א�ה�ב��י‬,‫יא �ו�א�פ�ר �ים ���ג�לה �מ�ל�ּמ�דה‬ 11 And Ephraim is a heifer well

broken, that loveth to thresh, and I
‫טּוב‬-‫ ��ל‬,‫ �ו�א �ני ���ב �ר��י‬,‫�לדּוׁש‬ have passed over upon her fair neck; I
‫�צ�ּוא�רּה; �א �ר��יב �א�פ�ר �ים �י�חרֹוׁש‬ will make Ephraim to ride, Judah shall
.‫לֹו �י���קב‬-‫ �י����ד‬,‫�יהּו�דה‬ plow, Jacob shall break his clods.

-‫יב �� �רעּו �ל��ם �ל�צ�ד�קה �ק�צרּו �ל�פי‬ 12 Sow to yourselves according to

righteousness, reap according to
‫ �ל�דרֹוׁש‬,‫ �נירּו �ל��ם �ניר; �ו��ת‬,‫�ח��ד‬ mercy, break up your fallow ground;
.‫ �ו �י�רה �צ�דק �ל��ם‬,‫�יבֹוא‬-‫ ��ד‬,‫ �יה�וה‬-‫�את‬ for it is time to seek the LORD, till He
come and cause righteousness to rain
upon you.

,‫�ר�ׁשע �� �ו�ל�תה �ק�צ �ר��ם‬-‫יג �ח�ר�ׁש��ם‬ 13 Ye have plowed wickedness, ye

have reaped iniquity, ye have eaten the
��‫�ב�ט�ח‬-‫��י‬--‫���חׁש‬-‫�א���ל��ם �� �רי‬ fruit of lies; for thou didst trust in thy
.‫ �ּב�רב ��ּבֹו�ריָך‬,‫�ב�ד �ר��ָך‬ way, in the multitude of thy mighty
men.

-‫ �ו��ל‬,‫ �ּב���ּמָך‬,‫יד �ו�קאם �ׁשאֹון‬ 14 Therefore shall a tumult arise

among thy hosts, and all thy fortresses
‫ ���ׁשד �ׁש�ל�מן �ּבית‬,‫�מ�ב�צ�ריָך יּו�ּׁשד‬ shall be spoiled, as Shalman spoiled
-‫ �אם ��ל‬:‫�א �ר�באל �ּביֹום �מ�ל�ח�מה‬ Beth-arbel in the day of battle; the
.‫ �ר���ׁשה‬,‫�ּב �נים‬ mother was dashed in pieces with her
children.
15 So hath Beth-el done unto you
because of your great wickedness; at

,‫ �מ���ני‬,‫�אל‬-‫ ����ה �ל��ם �ּבית‬,‫טו ����ה‬ daybreak is the king of Israel utterly
cut off.
‫ �נ�ד�מה �נ�ד�מה‬,‫�ר��ת �ר���ת��ם; �ּב�ּׁש�חר‬
.‫�מ�לְך �י���ר�אל‬
