Universal Design for Learning (UDL): All students in the class will be given the opportunity to work with
PowerPoint. Along with the mp4 video of the PowerPoint, there will be a voiceover for those who have
difficulty with vision. For future reference to their creation, students will be asked to save their work as a
movie, so it can be viewed without PowerPoint.

Engagement: Creating a product using PowerPoint will allow an enjoyable and informational learning
experience while using students’ creativity.
Representation: Students are able to create their product in any way they want, using any format and style
they want, which will be their own original creation.
Action and Expression: Making this product will allow students to have a better understanding of animals and
how they can be grouped according to their features.

Lesson idea implementation:
In conclusion to a lesson on animals and grouping, students will make a product using PowerPoint in
order to better understand how different animals can be grouped according to their features. Teachers will
guide students on how to use different aspects of PowerPoint to make them creative and original. Student
learning can be extended to a higher level through more implementation of different types of tools in
PowerPoint. There could also be more slides and more information.
Student learning will be assessed through the accuracy of information provided in the PowerPoint
slides and the creativity of the PowerPoint itself. The final product made by students will be an overview of
the first portion of the standard addressed, which is how animals can be grouped based on their
characteristics. Feedback will be provided through pros and cons of their product (what they did very well and
what may need some work).

Reflective Practice: This lesson allowed student to tie together their learning about the subject by creating
something that they are able to call their own. By creating a product, they can sort through information and
find the best way to portray it in their own way, as long as they are given guidance on how to use PowerPoint.
