Gina Fe Israel, to the

Program Head of Secondary Education, Dr. Dan Gomez, to the faculty of UM tagum, guests,
and to my Former professors or shall we say my forever mentors (not former professors), good
morning. It has been my great honor and privilege to be part of this educational endeavor and
undertaking and last time as I recall I was standing here at the same spot but as a student but
now, as this moment, as a professional organization representative. This only proves how UM
(University of Mindanao) is serious in actualizing its vision, mission and goals, thus, providing
better future and quality education to all. And I am a living testimony for that. A famous saying
of Benjamin Franklin as quoted, “By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.” It is true that
if we do not set goals beforehand we cannot succeed in life. Success only comes to those with
determination and who set concrete goals in life. And that is what UM always does – that is
“tatak UM”. With all the glories and prestigious recognitions that UM has been receiving
throughout the years (particularly in the Education Department), perhaps UM needs now
minimal effort in achieving towards excellence. What is more important, one thing that I could
suggest for now is SUSTANAIBLE DEVELOPMENT. Leaders come and go but the program and
the institution and the dreams of the students remain forever. So, it is a challenge for the
leaders of today in UM education department to strive harder, to continue, sustain and
develop what UM has started. Again, good afternoon everyone. Mabuhay and KUDOS
